Leaking oil around shifter seal

After the meet in the middle ride when I got home I noticed oil dripping near the front of the engine. Took a look and suspected shifter seal after all this is a 20 yr old Honda not a 20 yr old HD
Well today I decide to replace it. So after getting the shifte off the splines and the shifter rod from enginge off ( bugger ) I discovered the seal wasnt bad but bad slipped
Out of the hole. I compared it to the new one and zero difference. Could have probably pushed that one back in and been fine but ponied up the $2.58 and pjt the new one in oh and when I ordered that one I got two spares

BTW the one replaced was the original.  $2.58 for a twenty yr old part cant beat it

Mine looked pooshed out too, when I replaced it. Mine made a mess of
the bottom of my motor, it is hard to clean all that gunk off!

How does it behave on aluminum? I need to clean my motor, figured I would try the Simple Green, but I never found that stuff good enough to degrease my car engine.

Try aluminum wheel cleaner.

Our motors are painted, so I don't guess cleaners really
know what material is under the paint... ?

Chris, I know, that's why I'll try it again. Maybe it's the tooth brush and laying on your dolly that will make this work.

Bullet Proof!

Yep, had to replace mine upon returning home from Inzane at 63K.  Easy Peasy

Always a shock to see ANY oil on the mat under the Valk.
