Just got a new "smart" phone. Replaced my old flip phone.

New phone also has music on so I put it in my tank bag when riding so as to use ear buds.

Old flip used to always be in my left front pocket. Smart phone too big.

The thought I had was in the event of an accident the phone in the tank bag could be out of reach.

The little flip phone even though disconnected will still call 911.

From now on I am going to ride with the flip phone back in my pocket.

I don't know what type of phone you got (iPhone?) but I would recommend an Otter Box to protect your new phone.

I got an iPhone a few months ago and I've really come to like it better than my old small phone which I had for probably 6-7 years. One thing is I'm not tethered to my phone, it's seldom on my hip. My riding jacket has room for the phone but I keep the phone in my saddle bag, if there's an accident well either I'll be too banged up to make a call or someone will make a call to first aid. When I ride my phone is the last thing I'm concerned about.

I've been toying with the idea of finally going from my flip-phone
to a smart phone... there's one "small" smart phone, an Iphone
SE. Compared side by side with my closed flip phone it is only about
1/2 inch wider and taller. It sure would be nice to have the phone
and camera all in one, but I'd be bummed if it didn't fit easily
in my pocket...

Well... OK... my flip phone has a clumsy 1 megapixel camera  Wink

Do you ever go ride by yourself? If no one sees you wreck into trees you could be unable to get to your saddlebag?

When I first took my class for MN permit to carry the instructor told us if we have a cell phone It needs to be on you when your carrying. In the event of a get off a phone in the saddle bag is as useful as rain gear in the garage.

I wear my Crackberry on my hip in a holster. If I get called while riding, I can feel
the vibe, pull over to call back.

Paul I thought you wear a jacket?

Put the phone in the zippered jacket pocket

Mine is in the right pocket

I have taped a piece of paper to the inside of the carry case with my allergies (also taped inside helmet) for 1st responders
to be able to know and tell hospital

Also in the directory I have under contacts WIFE BONNIE

Just so they call the right person   Cool

My wife made me and the kids do a similar thing.

We all have a set of contacts listed as; EMERGENCY.

Some of the contacts overlap phone numbers but it works and makes her feel better.

For example I have EMERGENCY Wife/Barbara Cell....EMERGENCY Home....EMERGENCY Brother/

as a back up, you can keep a list of contacts with your bike registration and insurance or in your wallet.

if you're in an accident and unconscious or worse if you have you cell phone password protected the rescue people will not be able to get in there to get contact info.
