When you see on the news about the school shooting in South Carolina
today, it happened just around the corner from where this picture was taken:



Depending upon which way I decide to roll to work on any given day,
I pass right by the little country elementary school.

yah, we all think it cannot happen in our backyard in rural America, but some years ago a nut job killed and buried in their own rural farmland 2 old people and stole their money, etc.  only 1-2 miles away from me.  Crazy world indeed. 

I guess they waved some money around in another town's store paying cash and the nut case followed them home to their residency just outside of town stalking them.   Makes me just a tad bit nervous since  my mom pays cash all the time and she carries way too much moola in her purse,  not 1000's, but 100's at a time since old school never using a credit card nor will ever.

They just mentioned the name of the unarmed firefighter who "took out"
the shooter... he goes to my church...

I hate to bust any one's bubble, but this sort of stuff has been happening since the beginning of time.   Yeah there was a lot of stones, sticks, knives involve at first, but it was happening.  Nothing new.   It's just that we know about it 2 seconds after it happens.

I remember in the 60's during forestry summer school in southeastern Oklahoma, sitting in a bar when a guy pulls up out front.  He gets out of his pickup and empties a 12 ga. at the front of the bar.  No one was hurt, but was an eye opener.  In fairness to the story, the bar was outside of town, which consisted of a church, gas station/convenience store, two homes, and a school.

Yeah crap like this has been happening for a long time.

The daughter is my 2nd cousin... The mother was my cousin-in-law a few years ago.  :'(

It makes one proud to see such brave, smart women such as the counselor and the school secretary a year or so ago.

That instant news thing is new to my lifetime. Growing up I remember Movietone Newsreels about the Korean War. Mom and Dad got the Nam war on the 6 O'clock news. Now if potus farts at 6:01:20 it's on the news at 6:01:23. What's in these young uns heads that makes them believe they gotta kill anyone?    RIDE SAFE.
