Meathead cant get to my house before 11 or so on FRIDAY
If nobody else is in for the FRIDAY ride I am not going to leave until he and his wife arrive since they are coming all the way from Arizona and will have landed at JFK before 6am They have to wait till the bike rental place opens at 9 and then pack the bike and ride the hour to my home ( but I bet he can do it faster if he doesnt get lost too many times)
There were possibly two riders from Long Island, please reply
We can still get most of the good stuff in leaving around noon as the two big long rides are sat and sunday
I would also like a response on this thread who is still in for SATURDAY and SUNDAY rides besides Gig and Lulu and Meathead and his wife Gman I know is out for Friday but in for the other 2 days Wild6, Stan, Hook, Baldo, MHallock Big Rig if you were planning on riding up Friday this will really help you as you have a longass drive here Baldo same goes for you
13 Tappan Terrace Briarcliff Manor NY 10510 for your GPS

My plan, successful repairs not withstanding, is to leave here early Friday am, say 7ish. It's a bit over 3 hrs to get to your area. My plan was to meet you before you left, or call your cell and catch you somewhere along the route. Sat is a definite, also Sunday but will probably bug out once safely near Mass....

Oss, I hate to screw up the ride Friday. We will get there as quickly as possible. Hopefully the GW will have gps. I've been studying the route from the rental in Howard's Beach to Ossining and it doesn't look too bad. See you guys soon.

Hey Oss;
As I stated to you earlier, I'm working Friday and no way I'm getting on a bike in the late afternoon and heading through Hartford towards NYC.
I wish I could blow off Friday, but I've got to much work to get in before the winter sets in, which is a good thing.
I'll be leaving my house early Saturday morning and will hook up with you at either your house or the ride start location.
If you could repost both addresses I can enter them into my GPS. Or maybe PM me with them along with a phone number.
Really looking forward to riding the roads you post about and to hang with some fellow Valkers.

Tom and Stan
Great to hear from you ! Is Nancy coming on her bike?
my home is 13 Tappan Terrace Briarcliff Manor NY 10510 If you cant get here we should be at the traffic circle at the top of the Palisades Pkwy/7 Lakes/rt 6 by 930am
I dont know how you are coming (PM me) but if you are running late when you get to the gas station at the nj ny border on the Palisades between exits 4 and 5 call 914 9413947 You should have my cell # Taking 9w north from exit 4 is many miles less than taking it to exit 9 and then going south on the thruway and of course no trucks like the thruway has When crossing the tz stay in right lane both at the 87 split and right after that its all exit 8 stay right saw mill parkway signs for N O R T H at bottom stay on SawMill entrance which will be on left(119 is right you dont want that lol) Please slow to 20 at that tight turn esp if its wet It is the most dangerous part of your trip. You will like the Saw Mill if you havent ridden it At the split for Saw Mill/Taconic take right lane for Taconic in a mile will be the high speed 9a/100 exit take the 2 lane each way road to 2nd light that is Chappaqua Rd Right then 1st left onto Tappan Terrace My house is the one with all the Valkyries on left
If you will be meeting us at the circle wait just at the entrance of 7 lakes on the right side of the road so we can pull off safely

Oss, I have been watching your Catskills ride for a couple months now. We were set to go live with some new software at work this weekend, but they have been on again off again for several weeks now. I believe it won't go-too many issues. Anyway, I am having to wait until the last minute to make a final decision on coming up. If things still hold out, I will definitely be there on Sat. and Friday is extremely probable. Sorry to see that the time has shifted back from early morning, but totally understand with Meathead coming in from the Left Coast. I will join you for Friday if at all possible. I can let you know tomorrow or Wednesday as I find out from work.

Yesterday was a lot of fun but I took just a few pics From here at home we were 11 bikes if I remember, The colors made a substantial improvement with the cool temps of Friday night and Saturday saw reds popping and burnt oranges on the goat trail, all thru the 7 Lakes Drive and 106 The reflections off of the lakes on either side were serene and as expected we saw no traffic. Also as expected I made a right on 94 instead of a left and Dan caught me and made a left onto a side street and the rest of the group did not. I rode about 5 miles down the road and found them at a pull out and we regrouped only losing about 20 minutes or so, Pine Island highway, really just a street stretches all the way to route 6 winding thru black soil farm country and then 6 is downhill like lolo pass only much much shorter down to Port Jervis We stopped down the road for the 1st scheduled break at Hawks Nest and then xman led to a gas station in PA as Harry and The Bull did not fill up before we left. It worked out as we all topped off and emptied bladders that may have been full at the Exxon Looking at the time we went further west instead of north on 55 to that good restaurant overlooking the Delaware River and that stop was a long stop as only one waitress working, By then its afternoon and we only had gone 90 something miles so considering some had driven already 3 hrs to get to my house I decided Not to head up into the catskills and risk getting back at 8pm, NJf6Cowboy and MHallock rode home to Jersey from the lunch stop and Xman lived only 10 minutes away so he split as well We took 97 back to Hawks Nest for another look from another pullout then 84 to 17 to 6 6 is a great climb and then a long desent over the Shawgunk chain which stretches to Mohonk and New Paltz before becoming the Catskills Colors were popping and since Meathead and Brenda missed it yesterday we rode up to Perkins where we enjoyed a nice stop Bonnie said when I called her it had just started to rain in Ossining so we headed home and caught no rain at all. Dinner at a Portugese restaurant and I will let Meathead talk about the ride home Baldo by the way arrived as we were leaving our house for dinner in the mommyvan so he climbed in as well. Now its still raining windy but should stop in an hour or so so the ride will go on but probably closer to 11am as when I was out at 8 in was slippery with wet leaves Thanks to all who came

Now, now Oss. What happens in Ossining stays in Ossining. Especially in the back of an SUV between consenting adults. (well she didn't actually consent, but close enough) It was a great day ! Many firsts for us. Including an awesome Portugese restaraunt. It was good to have a beer with friends. (Maybe more than one)

Yes, thanks indeed Oss!! Great to see some old friends and make some new ones.....and what a route you chose....I haven't used the outside edges of my tires like that in a while!! Weather cooperated, scenery was great, fellowship was outstanding, and my new hip held up, too. Thanks to Bonnie also for letting us invade your home like that. Ride safe out there today!!

Thank You Oss for all the effort you put into planning and organizing such a great ride!!! The goat trail, Bear mountain bridge, 7 lakes, Pine Island, hawks nest, Delaware river scenic byway were wonderfully choices. Nice to meet everyone, hope we can get together a group to do the northern half of the route.
