My point should be obvious. Last week everyone was complaining how political posts were pushing the bike stuff onto page 2. It was quiet for a few days, but it's right back to where it was.

That's my point.

And it's not even basic politics. It's predominately bitching about Obama, who will be gone in 3 months. At least mix some Hillary bashing in once in awhile.

I wasn't bitching about it,, and only a few were. I don't like something I either don't read it or don't respond.

Right now the majority of the posts on the board first page are actually motorcycle related.

You fellows do realize you can quote without repeating the pictures?

When there is something we don't like we can choose to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution.  It's unlikely we can be both.

I tend to disregard complaints from folks who are primarily part of the problem.   Wink

We need an emoticon for those who don't want to read certain posts but feel strangely compelled to do so even if they don't fully read the information posted and still want to comment about what they haven't read.

Then another for those who like to start a thread just to get others wound up whilst they sit back and watch.

post some more bike related threads.

Problem solved.

That is a good step but the problem is just a bit more than just the number of threads.  It's the activity on the divisive threads that keeps them on top and drives others down.

There are actually only a few posters who habitually initiate divisive threads.  If all the members who dislike the divisive activity would simply not reply to the threads they would soon drop off the front page.  Secondly if those members would make a point of not just reading but replying to the threads they like to see those threads would tend to rise to the top.

Part of the problem is that we all have more of a tendency to reply to a thread that really pisses us off that to post an affirmative reply to a thread that we truly appreciate.

Where we tend to engage or participate will tend to dominate the board.

Willow, "this board" accommodated and welcomed the 1800 Valkyrie members by creating an 1800 category (with no bashing), due to the incessant negativity from SOME of the legacy Valkyrie enthusiasts. I don't generally comment in the political threads although I do read many of them.

The REAL simple solution is to add an off-topic or "other than motorcycle" category and MODERATE all the non-motorcycle crap out of General. Or don't, I care very little.

I voiced my opinion on an earlier thread, I wanted to convey thoughts I certainly never intended to have it come off as bitching.

And asking for a separate board called motorcycle only is a sin?

Baldo, I have the feeling that after the election the political chatter might be more.

I also felt the suggested solution would be a solution to the problem.

I said that all without caps. So I'm simply writing thoughts.

Jerry,

I've been saying it for quite a while, in addition to other members, that another forum would be a good idea. It's always met with resistance for various reasons.
