Planning a ride for tomorrow Oct. 2nd Sunday....... I put in some calls to our ride group, Sunday should be cloudy, but no rain, so I want to show off my new, old day ride bike.....got it out of the shop yesterday, and took it for a short 20 mile ride last nite... it is really fun to ride such a classic, and even got a , thats a neat bike from a Harley rider. He asked what year, and when I said 1975, Goldwing, he said very nice, very clean, I thanked him got on the bike and road off with a big smile....... can't wait till others see it in the lite of day....... have to get used to the floor boards, way different from the pegs on my 2014 Valkyrie..........safe riding to ALL

I love old(er) bikes! If possible and you have the money and time they are worth fixing up. Maybe not monitarily so much but just to preserve and have. I restored a 96 Springer a few years back that was neglected and a barn find of sorts. Spent a winter rebuilding it. I will never get rid of it.

Found this one at a used car dealer just inside Wisconsin border up by St.Paul Min. All it needed was carb rebuild and cooling tube o rings .. only has 18, 300 miles, ya the case covers are alittle patina but this winter I will have them polished back to shine. The wheels and body are perfect, afew chips in the paint, but that adds to the 41 year old classic can't wait to get the looks I'm sure this bike will get........

In 81 I purchased a78 GL1000, had it till 2005, only work done was plugs, battery, oil, and rebuilt carbs twice, and gas. Never changed the tires. Had same tires when I sold it, I think they were solid rubber, I still cannot figure those tires out, tread was not warn at all? Bought it 1,500 sold for 1,000. After carbs we're giving me trouble again, jet seats were to corroded wouldn't take rubber seals any more. Got frustrated decided to buy new bike. Had never owned a brand new one. Lived mostly in Illinois bike never driven intensely like the current ones I have had. Was a great bike. This bike was a basic setup just like the current 2014 Valk only add was a rack on back with a hard case storage compartment attached to rack.

Have several GL1000s in da' stable!! Ride each of them every week or so! Enjoy riding them as much as others. They are a fun, neat, (fairly fast), little ride. So very smooth, even by todays' standards! They seem so small now. Wish I could post pictures on the site. Have fun with yo First Generation Wing!

What color is it, Woofred? I have a teal blue '75, currently in a state of disassembly. I'm looking forward to restoring the old girl.

Mine is red, thats MY color for rides, my VTX1300! MY 1998!
