Lesa got me one of these today! We were perusing a gun store after a Valkyrie meet-up for lunch. Now its motorcycle related..pretty smooth, huh!
I had been looking at the PPQ M1 in 4" barrel but the sales guy threw a wrench in the works when he handed me the Match gun in 5".
Triggers are the best in the polymer striker-fired industry, bar none, and this is a touch better than the standard PPQ. Haven't shot it yet but sure have fondled it a bunch tonight. All  the videos and all of what I read are very positive about the gun. Optics ready as well.

Now that is one fine handgun. I would expect that would make a great handgun for competition.

As far as the trigger pull, I recently traded my Glocks for Sig 320's.  The 320's are modular and considered duty guns but the striker fired trigger action is much better than the Glocks, IMO.  Probably not close to the Walther tho.

I would think that the 5 inch Walther is a little salty on price with that red dot and other neat improvements. Smiley

That's a sweet pistol Pappy cooldude
I just purchased red dot reflex optics last weekend from the Inverness gun show for my tactical shotgun and long guns. I'm trying to use them to aid with my horrible eye problems.
I'm not a 9mm guy, but if I was....That's a sweet quality pistol.

Is yours fitted with the optics? I never tried them on a pistol?

Thanks Solo! Looked at the Sig 320. The Sig 320, Walther PPQ and the HK VP9 platforms are taking huge bites out of the Glock market.
Lesa is a Sig girl..... although she saw a Kimber yesterday that will probably take up residence here at some point. She is actively after her CCP now.
Tundra - No optics yet. Gun comes with 3 mounts for the different Red Dots out there.
Am doing some practicing with a couple of friends for IDPA  (International Defensive Pistol Assoc.) competition and this gun should fill the bill nicely should I take the plunge. Fairly proficient with my CZ75D Compact but the draw to first shot (double action) has been hurting me. Once in SA I can score as good as my friends at thier level.
Optics, such as the Burris FF3 Red Dot, are not that expensive and can be mounted in minutes.
I have been all over the board with calibers. When I looked aat how many different ones I had I made a decision to start consolidating and changing over to only a few. The 9mm platform is inexpensive to shoot in comparison to most others out there.

Walther triggers are the best on earth in my opinion right out of the box.

I have a red dot scope on one of my .40 cal. HiPoint carbines, the other has iron sights.  I also have a red dot on my Smith .22. but open sights on my Mark II Ruger.  Both 320's have Advantage Tactical sights that seem to work better for me.

From what I've seen, competition wise, only the more expensive holografic (sp) battery powered sights are suitable on competition pistols, meaning more compact, lighter, and better able to take the recoil of the slide.

I don't shoot competition, I wish that I could but I can't move fast and get into all kinds of pretzel positions. Smiley   I believe, after all these years, I'm comfortable with sight picture and recoil but would lose points for being too slow.

Again, excellent choice!

Solo - I'm not fast either and don't really care if I ever get to that point. The drills and competition add a bit of pressure to the shooting and should make me more proficient should I ever get into a situation where I have to be as good as I can be.
The sight set-up on the Walther Match is a very good one out of the box. The standard PPQ is okay but I would have had to change them to better (for me) and that cost alone put the Match in the ballpark price-wise.

Lesa and I went to the range today.
We shot Lesa's new Henry octagon barrel lever action at 25yds and she did a great job with it. Put 100rds through it. That started the smiles.
We packed up and went over to the pistol pits after shooting the Henry. We brought her Sig P238 out to play since she has not shot that in a bit. She got that dialed back in at the 7yd. mark and then I switched her to a 9mm Remington R51. She actually did better with the 9 than the .380.
Finally the time came to try out the new pistol and all I can tell you is that I had an ear to ear grin on my face. I stayed at the 7yd. mark with Lesa but even with almost no time with the gun the follow-up shots were a Hell of a lot faster than I have ever been able to make them and more accurate as well.

I have shot the Walther PPS and thought it was a well behaved handgun. The only Walther in the safe though is the LGU .22 spring rifle and it will take small varmits out to 70 yards or so. (Chipmunks at 100 yards but I doubt the kill power for anything larger.) I love my Henry in .357 Magnum. It is just plain fun to shoot and dailed in with the factory sights at 100 yards. On the lead sled the Henry has a 3 inch grouping at 100 yards but since I have no intention of ever shooting at anything moving much beyond 50 yards with that round, that is more than adequate. The old Ruger Mark I is still my favorite range pistol, even after 1000's of rounds it rings all the bells at the plinking range.

Match grade guns should put a smile on your face, I know the 10mm Tanfoglio Witness Match sure makes me look better than I am. I am in the process of consolidating the various types of firearms I have down to only a few different calibers for ease of reloading and stocking ammo. The Tokarev may be one of the exceptions since that is another pistol I just like to shoot the kaa-ka out of. Hummm, maybe a 7.62x51 rifle is in order.   Wink
