So, I told the young gal setting it all up...."so, I assume everyone in the OR will be wearing masks since it's Halloween?"  She first said "oh no." Then caught on and with a giggle...."yes!"

DUH!

Also gives me four weeks to worry about it.  :-\

John,
It will all be worth it when it's over.
I had both of my knees done and wish I could have had them done earlier!

Hope you have a quick rehab!!  :cooldude:

John, here is wishing you a swift and uncomplicated surgery, and an equally swift recovery period. :cooldude:

Hoping for a fast recovery and then long trips in the wind.   :cooldude:

Evening John,
Hip surgery is a common procedure now a days and the technology and techniques have improved as I'm sure you have discussed. Recovery is much faster and I know you'll be "Up and Atom" in a couple days without assistance. Hit the rehab as they schedule you and I hope to see you at a First of the Year ride. Maybe Bert will put it together again.....
My best and prayers to you and the team working on you.  :coolsmiley:

I want to get a couple more rides in before that date, weather permitting. Probably not this week however, some rain in the forecast.

Friend of mine had his done in July using the same anterior procedure, they don't cut muscles and very few restrictions on your activities. His dr. said his body will let him know what's OK and how soon. He was back to work in less than three weeks.

Hope every thing goes well and a swift recovery.  I know you have been looking at getting this done for a long time.

Life is like a hot bath. It feels good while you're in it, but the longer you stay in, the more wrinkled you get.

A little bit of a hitch in the plans....my daughter can't come down to help out. The 31st is the end of the month and she's the bookie for their company, that rules out her visit the end of the month. Since everything is already in place she told me to not reschedule, then said she had some phone calls to make. Next thing I knew, I had a call from a granddaughter that lives in the area, works for the VA. Next, a guy and his son came by, said Toni had called and he came by to see if we needed any help preparing for the storm(what a relief), and another HS friend of Toni's that is a licensed nurse practitioner. They're making arrangements to drive us to/from the hospital, someone to stay with Rita during my procedure, taking her home the first night and bringing her back the next day. Rita is unable to sit all day long, will need to rest somewhere so they're working on getting someplace for her to lay down for a while during the day....possibly an extra cot in my room. Looks like it will be hectic for Rita but should all work out, there's also some ladies from church that have offered to help so I'm a little less worried now overall.

A good friend of mine has a saying; "why worry when you can pray?"   I agree, that's worked for me for many decades.  :cooldude:

Wow, looks like you are well taken care off John.
With a daughter that can get on the phone like that, one should never get on her bad side  ;D

Glad it is all working out for you surgery and let me know if there is anything I can do

Ditto what Jack said about needing help.
I'm right across the county!
Don't hesitate to give me a call.

I swear, the preparations in getting ready for the slice and dice is a bigger PITA than the reason for getting it in the first place. I got a dr. script for a four wheel walker and it listed a model number. So this afternoon I went to a local medical equip. store and asked to see what they had with that number. The guy asked if it was to go through insurance so I told him Medicare is primary, AvMed is secondary. He looks at the script and told me it didn't read correctly, it has to say "with seat" before Medicare will accept it. I asked if that model comes standard with a seat...."yes."  So what the heck is the difference, told him his argument didn't hold water. I told him what I went through to get that script to begin with and he still wouldn't budge, then told me to tell my members of Congress. That was dumb, they don't make the rules for Medicare's operation....then added "we already have 437 fools in D.C. so what makes you think any call from me is going to change things."  He corrected me by saying Congress is only 435, I corrected him by saying he forgot the White House and his gofer boy....then walked out after wadding up the script and tossing it in his wastebasket. You'd think the dr. office would be aware of such a requirement, not at though this is their first rodeo.

When I got home I called the dr. office about how the script should read and the little chickie got all up in the air over my request. Finally told her "look lady, this is becoming a bigger PITA(real quote) than the actual reason I'm having the surgery. I'm two steps away from canceling the entire thing, at least I can do something to quell the pain of the flesh. I can't do anything to quell the pain of working with idiots."  Then hung up.  The new script just came via email.  Seems the world is full of idiots and for some reason I have the privilege of working with them the majority of the time.  :tickedoff:

And some times just the opposite happens, after I had my crash had some fubar knees and a couple broke toes. The medical group gave me a walker, that had arm pit rest, arm rests adjustable every way you can imagine. Ever had wheels with brakes on them. Told them I did not need it, but they insisted, so I brought it home, used it one time. Wrapped it up and stored it. Found out later insurance pair $2700 dollars for it.  All you have to do is say you dont need it ?????

John I know how big of a PITA insurance can be........believe me and the jerk at the med supply is correct....it must be written a certain way or no pay :crazy2:
Don't worry about your procedure there are many Drs around the country that do this as an outpatient procedure these days meaning two hours after SX you are walking and discharged about 8 hrs afterwards. All will be well and you will be a new man and feel like you haven't for a long time.
