I figured it had to be a gas explosion.  What else could have caused such a HUGE explosion of a house?  If you have stock in Sears,  best move it out now since either Sears or the local contractor hired by Sears will be getting sued for millions for not capping the gas line a few years ago.  Not only sued from the homeowner who lived thru the BOOM in his homes rubble, but by also the few neighbors who's homes got severely damaged by exploding debris.  I guess the LOUD BOOM could be heard for over 10 miles away.  How that homeowner lived thru the explosion is beyond reasoning, used up his 9 lives already all at once.

Sears and the contractor will have insurance to cover liability.  Even without insurance, if something like this is a crippling hit for Sears, they would have to have been in real sorry shape before-hand.

Mr Grittner should have remembered the saying, "righty tightly, lefty loosely".  He opened a valve when he was attempting to close one.  I'm not saying that the gas line should not have been capped, but such damage is usually caused by more than a single error.  The law suits tend to be waged on those with deep pockets...
