Never said he was, he's just a better choice (of the options we have) than Clinton.
And that my friend is how poorly I view this election cycle. Both parties had better candidates to offer, neither got them to the finish line. On the dem side, some didn't even get to the starting line.
I would MUCH rather have him, with what he has SAID, than Clinton, with what she has DONE, and SAID she WILL do. Open borders. Gun restrictions, higher taxes, put ultra liberal judges on the Supreme Court, raise energy costs, go after oil and coal, etc. etc., etc.
Is either one of them my "perfect" candidate? No. But, the choice is between those two. There is NO other VIABLE candidate. NONE.
ONE OF THEM WILL BE PRESIDENT. Trump is my choice, between the two.

I frankly don't care what he has done or said. He is not a documented enemy of my country, like the other candidate. He is
much more fit/qualified for the job than she is. So are you. So am I.
