Does anyone have these issue with these crazy clowns, scaring the crap out of people. It has escalated over in southeast Mich. to actual physical attacks now on people.

I don't get it at all. I can tell you that if a guy ran up to me and started screaming, trying to scare me I doubt things would escalate much. If the same situation occurred and he was wearing a scary clown outfit, he would most likely get popped in that rubber nose like Uncle Buck did to the drunk clown in the movie. (Must admit clowns kinda freak me out a little)

My kid's schools actually sent a form letter home saying they were aware of the clown threat and were upping security patrols because of it, blah blah blah...

I'm like... really??

And now my normal meme'ing:

We actually had two schools close down last week on Long Island, because kids and parents spotted a scary clown standing in a nearby lot. I would have sent the custodial staff down the road to beat his costumed ass with a broomstick. That'd wipe the grin off his face.

Just watched Channel 4 News in Detroit, and they said there was a robbery in Brownstown of a clown robbing a business, yesterday I guess the was a young kid, attacked with a friend and arm got a light slash, and there was an other incident in Sterling Heights. So!  What do you think!! The other day they were talking to a LEO and he kind of suggested it was so creepy, that the clowns, should watch their  shoe shine, and don't know how they may react to clown attacks.

My daughter in college just saw last night a gal she knows took a pic at 12:01 a.m. just after midnight of a REAL LIVE clown at the top of the steps on the college campus while she was walking up the steps to her dorm.

I guess they found the perv and got him arrested or questioned, etc.

Copy cat pervs are getting all over the place.   My guess is a male college joker, but in today's world one never knows especially in the dark at midnight.

Kids (or should I say young adults) nowadays think they are invincible as we once thought we were as well thinking nothing bad will happen to them.  I know when my daughter was living at home she thought clowns creeped her out and now this crap is happening.   tickedoff

While Mr. King may not have intended such an out come, it appears he did much to raise the scariness of clowns in general.

It  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPdDdC4go6c

Lots of copycats having a little fun.   The problem is, scaring a person can lead to results that were not intended to occur.    Just because you can doesn't mean you should.   Good judgement seems to be an acquired thing.

I think this is pretty serious Bighead. These people know lots of people are scared of clowns and they do it to scare. Other clowns take it to a new level and carry a machete or sword. All I know is if you are dressed as a Clown standing in my back yard you will be shot multiple times.

The incident in Michigan involved a clown taking a boy by the wrist and simulated slowly cutting his arm with a butter knife.  The boy incurred a scratch from it.

If you even REACH for a kid in that way, you are asking to be hurt.

Not yet, after the mom placed the 911 call, a second call came in from 2 miles away that three men dressed as clowns chased two women with baseball bats.

This was all Tuesday night in Sterling heights,  mi.

Frankly, I think they are incredibly stupid bicentennial the number pro-carry citizens in this area.

It's a fad for most of these idiots, it'll stop when a few of them run into and try to scare someone carrying.    Stupid People Playing Stupid Games Win Stupid Prizes.

Personally, I'm no more afraid of a clown than anyone else who is disguised.   That doesn't mean I'm confortable either.   If I see someone in disguise, I normally avoid them and would suggest that they should also avoid me.   We're all better off that way.   angel

There's a psychological reason you're terrified of clowns

http://www.aol.com/article/lifestyle/2016/10/05/theres-a-psychological-reason-youre-terrified-of-clowns/21573986/

Clowns are about as creepy as creepy things get but just why do we find these wig and make up donned people so frightening?
Despite the history of clowns going back thousands of years, Some experts say our association with fear and clowns is fairly recent - thanks to a serial killer in the 70s dubbed Pogo The Clown causing Hollywood to take advantage of the panic with films like Stephen King's It.

Still clowns have maintained their high level of creepiness , but what is creepy? One psychologist set out to study why people perceive certain things or people as creepy
The study asked 1,341 people ages 18-77 to fill out a survey rating behaviors of what we think creepy people have. Like unusual eye contact or physical touching. A second survey had them rate the creepiness of different occupations. And in final section, participants listed two hobbies they perceived as creepy.

The results showed clowns as the most creepy occupation - consistent with the study's theory that creepiness levels were increased when the subject felt uncertain about a threat. Clowns wear make up and disguises that make them ambiguous in a time when society encourage hyper awareness of our surroundings to avoid danger.

Apparently, you're or should I say we are not alone.   Clowns don't really scare me but, the comfort level is definitely less.   Disguises in general raise suspensions.    Precisely why I always keep an eye on Willow.   Wink

You reminded me of a couple things, first in school, there was the study of body language, In a lab at some University, they did an experiment with monkeys.  They took Mother and child, and in an operation they took them both and cut facial tendons or muscles in their faces from what I recall. So they could not express their feeling to each other facially, and when they would look at each other, it was perceive as an act of aggression. So Mother and child lived on, never looking at each other again.  Another thing I personally recall, it was around Halloween and a bunch of the family showed up at my parent’s house.  My Mother had a Chihuahua and my nephew brought over his mutt mix dog, which we were very friendly with the dogs,. I had this crazed looking person mask, I put it on, and the dogs came totally unglued, almost uncontrollable. I took it off and the dogs seemed OK, but weary, so I put the mask back on, and again they came unglued.  I did this a couple times, and after that, My Mother’s Chihuahua, would never come near me again.  So the clown appearance may trigger a primal instinct to go into survival mode, which maybe first step to be dislike of.

Professional clowns do charitable work in hospitals, for communities and also perform at children's functions, bringing happiness to kids everywhere. They really care about their craft and this "creepy clown" epidemic is actually making it dangerous for them to perform.

A good clown will not scare folks.  I know a lot of them - I book them.  My wife is a clown.  There will be an incident soon where someone going to entertain at a hospital or retirement home is run off the road or shot by some idiot who now believes it is OK to hate them.

Just another problem I thought I would never live to see in this country.

Don't live in the world of "What If", live in the reality of "What Is".  I have not fear of clowns, in my younger days we had Emmet Kelly, the was a  famous Hobo Clown and we had Clara belle.  Don't get yourself upset set with What If scenarios that didn't happen.

What.

The.

Snuggle.

We have lost are ever loving minds. Truth is stranger than fiction.

http://www.abc15.com/news/local-news/clown-lives-matter-march-planned-for-oct-15

(And RainMaker - I honestly do feel for the "real" clowns through this stupidity, and hope everyone gets through it in tact. It's sad that people who dedicate their lives to bringing joy and happiness are being maligned like this, so I kind of get it, but.... )

Strange times we are living in. Strange times indeed.

daughter in college 3 1/2 hours away sent us for 2nd time in a row now another clown sighting on the campus.

I think security needs to step up the campus police patrol at night and arrest these idiots.  Walking around on a 2-3000 people or more campus setting at night in a clown outfit should not be tolerated with mostly 20 year olds around.

She sent us the first sighting showing a scary looking clown staring down at night from the top of the steps with a girl she knows about 30-40 steps below taking  a pic with her cell phone of the clown looking down at her.  If I saw that,  I would first walk away but if he (the clown) followed,  not so sure what would happen?  A 18-20 year old girl is surely more to be frightened than with a 19 year old guy.  If I was 19 and that happened to me,  I would probably just keep walking his way up the steep steps and confront the piece of crap telling him to knock it off or restrain him until the campus police or others at midnight arrived.

Luckily,  my 18 year old daughter is scared of clowns thinking they are all creepy and after dark does not go out alone at night ever having 2-3 others in her dorm she hangs out with.  Smart idea!

Most likely a campus boy doing this, but I found out the dorms are all locked at night but during day and early evening,  anyone/student with a badge can get into other dorms on campus with of course each dorm room security locked with touch key code.

I hope they catch the 1-2 idiots doing this and get some serious punishment for this if not expulsion from college schooling being probably the worst.   Then again, never knew it was a crime to walk around campus with a clown outfit on either, but late at night is not right either.  Now, if that clown attacks or harms others verbally or physically or has a knife, baseball bat, etc. on him,  then jail time for sure.

Here in the Detroit Metro area, they have been arresting and prosecuting some of these people.  One committing robberies, and some just screwing with the public. Good for them, If you are going to dance to the music, you must pay the fiddler.

Its not the clown thing that concerns me, it how irresponsible, mean, and sheep like people can be these days. It seems it don't matter where are these days, you have to look over your shoulder where ever you go.
