Has anyone ever picked up say a low mileage (under 30K) standard Valkyrie for under 3.5K in very good shape with some extras on it as well (or even bone stock?).

I know it all depends on mileage, condition, and area of the country, along with extra accessories it has, but on average,  my guess is being worth about:

std - 4-5K
tourer - 5-6K
I/S - 6-7K

I see one local being an all black 2003 Valkyrie standard only 24K miles with windshield,  newer tires,  hwy. pegs,  passenger armrests, drivers backrest, rear luggage flat rack behind passenger backrest,  all for 3.5K,  seems like a good deal pics show it in good condition but pics are hard to judge unless in person.  Would be 3rd owner of it since original owner brought it to dealership where this guy bought it 3 years ago just never drove it much.   It does have weird I/S tips on the exhaust though vs. the std/tourer squared exhaust in back which seems odd looking to me.  I have not seen one even with higher mileage for under 3.5K yet.  I know some want an outrageous amount some say tourers asking 8K and some I/S's asking 9K,  but that is pushing it for sure even fully decked out and low mileage in my opinion.

Heck,  if in the market,  I saw on craigslist a 2013 used but near new Honda Valkyrie with only 4K miles asking 8.9K, now that I think is a good deal if someone wants a newer Valkyrie since most used ones are still 10K or so I think?

Now have to get wife's approval and find room for it somewhere?  Roll Eyes

I just did a completed/sold listing search on ebay and found
that several STDs went for $5,300-$6,000 recently...

There's also a very low mileage Green Dragon Interstate
that went for $6,200, so who knows?

Valkyries don't sell that well anymore it seems. I look at Craigslist everyday some great bikes and good bargains and they just sit and sit.  All of us in the club know tons of information on these bikes and the rest are clueless.

Your estimates are a little high for today's market.

If one finds a buyer that will pay those that's good but averages are a bit below those.

thanks for the replies guys, keep them coming in.

I too search craigslist WAY too much daily for stuff I want to buy against my wife's opinion, but have bought 2 ATVs, lawnmower, and scooter on their the past few years with good success/pricing, among other smaller ticket items.  I just recently got my Toro 1 year old Honda engine lawnmower that I REALLY needed new at home depot 429 only slightly used for only 160 bucks 1 hour away from me.  I wanted to go lower offering 150, but he said NO, still a good buy for sure knock on wood.  Now, that I have a decent push mower,  the wife is willing and wanting to mow the yard as well - WIN - WIN!!!

This 2nd possible Valk std. though locally on craigslist has my attention at only 3.5K have not seen one lower being a newer 2003 model with extras I would want anyways under 24K miles on it as well.  Would be funny me pulling up on my all black Valk I/S asking to test ride an all black Valk std.???  Not a HUGE fan of all black, but when clean,  shines PURDY!  laugh

CookieDough,

You are approximately $1000 high on all three models.   I have some experience in this area.  Not bragging or wanting to sound arrogant.  Have spent much time watching ads, talking with sellers and calling them back months/years later to ask their selling price vs their asking price, its never the same.  The market currently (I'm in Texas but nationwide) is sluggish.  Have one currently listed, Standard with Beetle Bags in very fine condition with extras and 26000 on the clock.  Asking $5700 have had one not so serious offer of $4450 and wanted me to deliver.  I continue to ride it.

Blessings,

Woody

Actually that 4450 dollars Christbiker was offered was me and that price of 4450 is exactly what he offered it to me for. I would have bought it but he refused to bring it from Dallas tx to Waco tx so the deal went south. Even offered to pay for gas. He didn't seem to hungry to sell it to me.

If I'm selling I expect them to come to me, if buying I expect to go to them.
Hell, me my dad and brother drove 6 hours east for a bike that had never been seen and no deal in place. The giy just knew we would be there. It did come home with us but only after figuring out it had been hydrolocked and needed repaired.

This one looks to be a good deal. It may need some seafoam run through the carbs. If you pick it up let me know I know where you can get a replacement saddle bag.

Best of luck,

My dad and I just flew to Milwaukee, WI and picked up two absolutely mint Silver and Green Interstate mine came with maintenance records that were by the book divided by 50% if book said 12k it was done at 6k miles.

The each have a small tiny chip in the saddle bag and one tiny chip on a pod and if you don't know they are they you can't find them. Mine has the McCruise on it. Lets just say you can buy them for less than $5500 but that is really a rare find. Usually in the $6500 dollar range.

There is a silver and blue one for $8500 is Missouri I think and I offered $7k and they laughed at me. It has lots of extras but I'm going to put way more extras on my green and silver and have less than $7 and a much nice bike.

You did see the large crack in the back of the right saddlebag on this green valk i/s correct?  Still worth 5K though easily, but I would not say excellent condition anymore.

My rich neighbor sold his too fast for wife snowmobile to someone guessing 8-9 hour drive away and he was not willing to come get it, so my neighbor who wanted it sold ASAP told the guy if he gave him his asking price and was serious about the sale,  he would deliver it to him which he did blowing a whole day of it in doing so.  I guess if desperate enough to sell,  delivery is available as long as the person is serious and honest about wanting it.

I have delivered stuff selling to others if say within 1 hour drive nearby, but that would be about it for me.

Well not on a 1500 Valkyrie but, I think I got a good deal on a bike I was looking for...... I found a 1975 original GL 1000, with only 18, 323 miles on it, and the $ price $1000.00      of course it needed carb rebuild after sitting for 2 years and afew other minor gaskets replaced , and will need the cases polished to bring back the finish, but the rest is amazingly, really nice for a 41 year old bike..... I have riden it 4 times now and the looks and comments, are unreal, even afew from those HD riders that appreciate, a classic ride, looking forward to next season, after I do the winter clean up .....WOW, what a ride, it really looks good in the garage next to my 2014 Valkyrie, sill hope to ride afew more times before weather closes this year season,     I intend to post afew pictures when the sun shines so I can get afew good ones.....

I spoke with him last night. Have to take a look today. Ya, looks like a bike that's been setting, kinda dusty. Never seen a bag like that unless it's been down? Shall see?

I had a crack develop in my right side bag. It started on the bottom and started to run. I don't believe that I ever overloaded it but I may have over tightened the lower bolts. If the crack isn't arrested I can see it progressing just like what you're seeing. Luckily I caught mine before it became visible to others and sealed it up with ABS glue. I suppose another way to start a crack would be to lose the spacer at the rear bag mount and tightening things up without it as this would also put unintended stress at the back of the bag. I hope the rest of the bike meets your expectations.

I paid $5k for my 98 Tourer with 17,000 a little over a year ago.  Can't believe these bikes can be bought for such a low amount.

Been looking at 10 year old Wings, just for fun.  Interested in 1800 w/ EFI.  Seems like some great deals out there.

Like I mentioned prev post here is a 2000 Std I thing you would call this model, 15,000 miles thats 1,000 a yr. not yet broken in asking 4,500-4,700. Is available at SW Cycle on Pine island Rd, Cape Coral still there as of this AM. May be a trip for someone up north seems all original except for pipes and seat. Have no skin in this. Just seem like a nice bike for someone who will enjoy the ride.  Smiley

He offered to drop 1250 bucks off of his asking price and you say he didn't seem hungry to sell it because he wouldn't deliver it to you? WOW...did you expect him to gift wrap it for you after pulling in your driveway?

At that price I'd have driven 1000+ miles to texas if I was still in the market. Shouldn't have any trouble selling now that everybody knows your lowball price. Those corbin bags look almost better than the OE bags on these valks.

I just agreed to purchase my new winter project, a '99 green and silver IS for $5800. 26k on the clock, mustang seats (bye-bye to those), trailer hitch, Cobra six into six exhaust, and some other farkles, some that will stay, a lot will go. She is in dire need of a complete stripdown to get her clean as well as a lot of TLC after sitting with the occasional start for the last 5 years. I will probably Super Valk the newest lady in the stable.

Well I would agree with everyone on there thought process..but I had previously done a deal with Christbiker in person and he had no problem meeting me halfway for a $125 on his gas. I also offered to pay for gas on the bike deal. Over a cup of coffee he had no problem letting me know just how great a deal maker he was at buying up used Valkyrie's and reselling them and I will have to say he did actually get the better deal the first time. So what's wrong with me wanting to try his own tactics on him. Also sense he traveled to me before why not now for $4450. In his post he also did say make me a offer which I did a very low one that I new he would not take.... I also came up he came down. So like I said before he didn't really want to sell it or he would have met me halfway like before.

Those bags I believe where the very first bags on a I/S. They very quickly realized their error and moved towards the latch we have now. I bet that vin number shows it was one of the very first Interstates made.
