I just turned on the tube.  It looks like the Southern States got a lot of wind, and the Northern States (well... more Mid States... The Carolinas and such) got a lot of flooding.

Are y'all OK up there??? I sure hope you are all safe and sound.

Ok here - at least 10 inches of rain, woke up to giant oak tree down in cul de sac blocking me in my driveway (and some of the neighbors). Neighbors pitched in and we had it cleared by 1230 - 1300.

Is nice when neighbors pitch in and help each other out some.  Sure beats clearing a huge oak tree by yourself if was on your property.    If 10 people pitch in taking 2-3 hours vs. yourself 12+ hours is surely a blessing.  A professional tree removal company wants over 3K (one company was 5K)  to remove my 100+ year old burr oak starting to rot the past decade or more.   I said for that price I will take my chances of hitting the house and hit my 1K deductible.  They all say could happen in 1 year or 50 years from now, you just never know.  Instead,  I spent 1 hour cutting down about 4-5 eight inch diameter dead tree limbs that no longer have leaves on them and are mostly dead ready to fall down in higher winds standing on an 8 foot ladder with an old wooden long 12 foot rod tree saw trimmer.  Got some firewood for sale cheap....  laugh   I have one left I can reach with my neighbors taller extension ladder, but not so sure my long pole prunner hand saw has a long enough blade at the end to saw it being over 1 foot diameter.   The last one I did some 10+ years ago came down and hit the ladder I was standing on mere feet away from hitting me  - not good.  Sometimes the limbs come down not where you expect them to drop.
