Yep, you're so right Wayne. That's where I got my first two trophies the year after your son won. I got a 1st in class and also Best In Show. Attended with KCK, the Kansas City Kid....remember him? We met in the Iron Pony parking lot in Columbus, OH and rode up together. He had HUGE air horns on his bike and after one blast I made him take the lead.  Grin  If he hadn't insisted on my entering the bike show I would never had done so. There were others in the parking lot that I felt far overshadowed my bike, but they didn't enter.....I did. Like you said...those were the days. Great memories, toured the plant, chatted with various employees, learned a lot about the how and why of the bikes and how they were put together. Sure wish they hadn't moved back to JA Pan.

John, yep I remember KCK. (Ted) . He sold his Valk and briefly went to a scooter then sold everything and went fishing, I think.
He no longer posts on the Ohio board.  Yep, Mark won $500.00 for his Valk.  I think the year before, a Valk won $10,000.  Times have changed, sure 'nuff.

That's where I met RJ for the first time.  I miss him on the forum.

Overall, I'm glad that I made the Honda Homecomings.  The same for the CBR's.

I remember talking to Mark during the trophy ceremony, he told me about the winnings. The year I won I only got the trophies....no cash. As for Ted, I haven't talked or seen him in years. My sis-in-law lives in the Columbus, OH area and while my wife could still travel, we'd go up to see her a couple times a year and I'd give Ted a holler while there. Think I still have his # in cell phone directory, often wondered if he still lives in the same house. We rode down to Johnson City together, don't recall if it was for DOTS or InZane. Oh well....time marches on for all of us!

You mentioned you first met RJ at the Honda Homecoming. I remember when he announced on here that he had just had his 80th b'day, I thought what a great milestone to reach that age and still be riding. Here's hoping I can do likewise before long, we used to talk either via email or by phone. We'd get to laughing over something and finally he'd have to excuse himself because he had to go relieve. He'd come back and it would start all over again. Yes, I also miss those days.  Sad
