Battery box cover and strap fell off.

With my help that is. I am due a new battery and she
didn't have enough juice to fire the coils this morning
so I jumped her off with the truck.
Had the cover and strap laying on the right saddlebag.
Note to self always put them on the ground.
Had myself one of them there STUPID moments and
put the seat back on leaving the cover and strap on
the bag. Got 75 miles away when it hit me what I had
forgot to do. Called my son and he checked all the way
to the stop sign on our road with no luck. So I headed
back and back tracked my route. 2.5 miles from my
house I found the strap in the road beside the Toyota
dealer. I thought well I will only have to buy a cover.
To my surprise when I got on L-R blvd What was laying
in the curb yep my cover with no damage. Big U turn
pulled on the sidewalk and retrieved the part.
I've never had that much good luck before maybe it's
time to buy a few lottery tickets tonight.

I'll split the cost of that lottery ticket with you. I lost a side cover today on a nice 200 mile jaunt to the wilds of eastern Oklahoma. Not Happy

Funny, in 1981 I bought a 78 gj1000 from a guy out in rural area some 30 miles from were I lived. We checked the bike over, showed me were everything was at. Took the side cover of were battery was. This had a twist lock screw using dime or nickel to lock. Apparently didn't lock. I got home and saw the cover missing. Couldn't find it. Few days later went to Honda dealer in town. Asked if I could order a new cover. Told him what happened. He asked what color, said maroon. Went in back and came out with a cover and asked if this was it. Said that's what I need. Told me someone saw it on Highway picked it up and brought it to dealer. Apparently someone picked it up was why I couldn't find it. Sometimes good things happen.

About 20 yrs. ago coming back from Bike Week in Daytona my right side cover blew off the '92 Wing I had at the time. I didn't know it until I got home so figured it was long gone, had no idea where it might be. So, my wife and I jumped in the car and headed back to Daytona to retrace my route. At the point where I-4 starts on I-95, just about 1/2 mile in there's a small bridge. My wife spotted something on the shoulder just past the bridge so I pulled over and walked back....sure enough, it was the side cover. As I walked up to it I figured I was looking at a new paint job but when I picked it up I found it had landed on the inside of the cover. Just a little abrasion on the mounting pegs where they plugged into the rubber grommets, otherwise it was in perfect shape. When I got home, I notice one of the grommets was missing, probably why it blew off.

Plain old black under the seat. I bought it in 2010 from a guy in Kingsport Tn. He really put the aftermarket chrome on it.
I hate to lose stuff especially caused by me.
