I used to think I was just a regular person, but . . .

I was born white, which now, whether I like it or not, makes me a  racist.
I am a fiscal  and moral conservative, which by today's standards, makes me a fascist.
I am heterosexual, which according to gay folks, now makes me a homophobe.
I am non-union, which makes me a traitor to the working class and an ally of big business.
I am a Christian, which now labels me as an infidel.
I believe in the 2nd Amendment, which now makes me a member of a vast gun lobby.
I am older than 55, which makes me a useless old person.
I think and I reason,  therefore I doubt much that the main stream media tells me,  which must make me a reactionary and a conspiracy theorist.
I am proud of my heritage and our inclusive American culture, which makes me a xenophobe.
I value my safety and that of my family, and I appreciate the police and the legal system, which makes me a right-wing extremist.
I believe in hard work, fair play, and fair compensation according to each individual's merits, which today makes me an anti-socialist.
I (and most of the folks I know), acquired a fair education without student loans (it's called work) and little debt at graduation, which makes me some kind of an odd underachiever.
I believe in the defense and protection of the homeland for and by all citizens,  which now makes me a militant.
Now, a sick old person is calling me and my friends a basket of deplorables. Please help me come to terms with the new me . . . because I'm just not sure who I am anymore!  I would like to thank all my friends for sticking with me through these abrupt, new found changes in my life!  I just can't imagine or understand what's happened to me in the last 7 or 8 years.
And, if all this isn't enough to deal with . . . I'm now afraid to go into either restroom!  2funny

Amen!!! A great American once said "Don't  ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country " They  now say "Look what we can do  for you, elect us and we will give you more "  .  People better wake up. Unfortunately there may be too many wanting free stuff. Cry

That reminds me of something I saw a few days ago. We were at the play "The Book of Mormon" and above the entrance to the bathroom was this sign.

I hear your words and I feel your pain!

I can't even begin to find words that describe the pain and frustration that I feel for the shape that our country is in.

My father spent his teenage years riding a destroyer escort around the South Pacific fighting the Japanese to save our nation and its values for future generations.

For the first time in my life, I am glad that he is no longer here.

He sacrificed his youth and his innocence to help save our nation from tyranny, only for future generations to throw it away!

We have come a long way (in the wrong direction) since I served in Korea.

This is still a country that I love but the politicians in Washington DC have changed it against our wishes to something that is different from what our founders desired.

As a result, many of our citizens now have the outlook quite the opposite from what President Kennedy asked us to be.

In addition to that, the same politicians and the media have made it impossible for good people to want to run for the highest office in the land because of the scorn, ridicule, and 'dirt digging" that any candidate must endure.

We don't have orators now, we have filthy mouth proponents, deceivers, and outright liars.. We don't have responsible citizens, we have citizens with their hand out.  We don't have the "Melting Pot" but now we have the separatists.

The future of this great Republic is in jeopardy and we have no solution.

Every day, I wake up to try to find good news but see only bad, and my day is spoiled.

After November 8th, it could be even worse .

I have only one way to judge a person whom I call a friend.

Will you watch my back , you do not have to fight the battle , just let me know if I am being attacked from behind!
KAREN , you summed it up.
Is my way wrong , I do not think so. I have been shot , stabbed , and divorced. Not at the same time tho. Yes , our country values are being taken down and away little by little. Racism is being taught. Hatred is also in the learning curve.  JOHN , I am right with you. I am a veteran ,  a citizen and a gun owner. I guess I am right along side of you. Also , I will watch your back , and many others on this board.

But wait, there's more............

If Clinton is elected, the very first time you disagree with the 1st woman president, you will be able to add the title Sexist to your new found persona.

Just like they did to all of the very fine people in this country, calling them a racist for disagreeing with the nation's 1st black president.

Good grief Baldo, why would you post something like that? For me and millions like me, it was never anything to do with his color, it was his demonstrated omniscient approach to seemingly everything, when his results proved he was out of his league from day one. If you went against his "all seeing, all knowing" persona, you were the one figuratively ending up in that noose.

People need to remember, as adults we're a result of our exposures to things as a child. Growing up in various countries but exposed to nothing but one obtuse overshadowing belief, then followed by additional impressions made by radicals on a person as a young adult, often leads to a very narrow minded and generally uneducated path. In obama's case, I think if the man had actually been raised within the U.S.A. from early childhood, his legacy would be much different today. As it is, he had no reference to it so fell back to the only thing he knew....that of an oligarch. Sadly, it hasn't all turned out very good because I feel he's a fairly intelligent person, not above average by any means....but still intelligent just the same. But you can't take the reins with a narrow view of where you want to go and do. Believe me on that, it's coming from someone that has spent more than a few hours following a team of horses in the field. When it's quitting time, those horses know it and your day in the field is done whether you think so or not. If you want to take a different route home, forget it, they know the best and shortest way and at that point you're just along for the ride. If you're driving a tractor, you're in control. Driving a team of horses.....not always. Just had an amusing thought....imagine him behind a team of horses.  Wink

John,

Meathead hit the nail on the head.

I agree. I hate that picture, and I was very uneasy about posting it. I always default to not share that kind of filth, but in this case I felt it was necessary to demonstrate the rampant racism that exists. Disagreements are one thing, this is where racism fits like a glove.

Sorry if it made you uncomfortable, I trust it means you dislike it as much as I do....

This has nothing to do with my post.  I was talking about the labelling of those in disagreement with policy.   This is over the top bullshit that should be ignored, instead of used to make a point that political disagreers are indeed racists.  And shame on you for using it.

Done with this thread and won't look back to see the reply to this garbage.  And that's exactly what it is, GARBAGE.

Gary,

You're missing my point. I am not going to get into all this racist argument again. The right's cry that they're being labelled racist is fresh red meat thrown out there to get people all riled up and keep them that way.

You're absolutely right. Disagreeing on policy is one thing. I don't remember a whole lot of policy discussion, I definitely remember lots of BS like that picture.

John, your dissertation is appropriate for me also. My dad would be 92 were he still here with me. He spent his late teen years
flying backwards in the Pacific as a tale gunner in a B-25 defending the country he loved so much. He would not believe the depths this
country has sunk to in the past 7 1/2 years.

Any disagreements I have had with POTUS have had nothing to do with his color. I was backing a black man in 08 for the Republican nominee until the liberals ended his bid with their  character assassination they always perform so well.

How sad it is that so many people now days call you racists if you disagree with POTUS because he is black, ( to be factually correct
half black ). My friend Lee of 43 yrs. and happens to be black just calls me hard headed when we disagree, not a racists. Sad this has become such a knee jerk reaction from the left.

Bullshit, Baldo.  You posted right after Gary's claim that everyone who disagrees with Obama is labelled as racist and then you posted a purely racist picture with the question of whether that qualifies as disagreement.  Basically you made the accusation which Gary complained of.

I guess a real argument would have been an example of how someone disagreed with the President and wasn't called a racist.  There are examples out there, I'm sure, but you simply do not seem to be capable of that level of respectful discussion.

Right back at you with your bullshit Willow. Read what I said. I asked if this is what poses as disagreement. That's it. I didn't say everyone felt that way. It was a simple correlation from statement to picture.

You've got an interesting way to look at things, Willow.
