Because it's going to be 80* it's coming off, not cause the Dr said so.
NO WAY I can let this weather go by without a ride. Haven't ridden in a month...killin me... tickedoff
I can't put any weight on the right foot, so stopping will require care so I can lean the bike left only.
Plan my stops and use front brake only...what can go wrong??
Non-political ride report tomorrow!

Good luck and have fun. Actually I imagine much could go wrong. But you are capable of knowing what you can do.

Had a friend stayin' with me one time with a busted right leg (3 places).
Came home to find him gone on his GS1100 Suzuki (had crutches duck taped to bike)!
Best part was.... we had carried his bike into my living room so he couldn't try to ride it 2funny
For the life of me, the only way he coulda got it out was line it up, & pop the clutch Shocked

When ya gotta roll, ya gotta cooldude
Have fun Cool

not trying to be a dick, but stay off of it since one wrong move you might not have a cycle left being tipped over.  If cannot adequately put weight on one leg,  there will be a time when you need that leg to support the bike, so please heed my advice.

I had knee surgery and although could put some weight on it,  I waited near 2 months to fully ride the valkyrie again did not push it in 1 month or so later.  maybe I could have, maybe not, but for me, the risk was NOT worth the reward.

Now if you had a trike on 3 wheels, go for it.  That is what more and more people are doing say age 60 or so and even younger than that.

Then why ever go to the Doctor at all ? It amazes me how stupid some people act. I could give you 100 plus accounts of similar situations that after seeing us for a problem then all not turning out they way THEY want or expect they blame US the healthcare workers. Save your freak in money and don't go to the Doctor.
If you mechanic told you to not drive your car with no oil.....would you? Hell no so why do what they tell you not to?
And your logic to he is a grown man......he sure is but don't seem to be acting like it.

Its been my experience that doctors are no closer to perfect than anybody else. They don't know everything, they don't have a crystal ball. They make a judgement most of the time. It's no doubt a more qualified judgement than mine, but not exact by any means. I go to the doctor when I think I need to. Thankfully haven't been in many years. But if I think I need his opinion or help I go. Then it's up to us what we do with that info. There have been a few times I'm very glad I didn't take their guidance.

As an ASE certified mechanic I can vouch that people don't heed advice about their cars either, then blame us when it breaks or complain that the estimate I gave them 6 months ago for $300 is now a $1000 repair because when it broke it damaged other parts as well.

Craig..I get it but think of it this way. You have a plan. But your plan may not include someone else's stupidity that force the use of your bad hoof.

If that should happen and the the outcome not be in your favor, you won't ride for longer than just the next month or so. Up to ya, and your plans may shake out. But if they don't you may be laid up for quite some time. Good luck in your decision.

Meathead and I are like twins on this issue.  I go to the doctor to get his educated services and to receive his educated advice on my needs for recovery.  He doesn't know everything.  He is not infallible.  More often than not he has no real idea of what riding my particular motorcycle does or does not demand.

I visited my surgeon last week.  During the conversation I asked him when I could go back to business as normal.  My loving wife informed him that meant riding my motorcycle.

"How long ago was the surgery?" he asked.

"Three and a half weeks," was my reply.  It was Friday.

"Monday, with my permission," was his response.

"You know how much that's worth, don't you?"

"Yes, but I had to say it in case anything goes wrong."

I like that doctor.  I was on the bike that afternoon.  If anything were to go wrong it's on me; not on him.  I got that same impression from the original poster.

It's my body.  I appreciate the help.  Sometimes I have to ask for more understanding.  Ultimately I will make my own decisions considering as appropriate the input of those who know more than I.

Well, thanks for all the concern & advise. I enjoyed 260-ish miles of bliss!
Left town with the promise of 80*...we never saw 60...effin liars...never took the coat off either. We did a bunch of different roads going west to the Berkshires. Had lunch at Cold River Cafe in Charlemont, MA and rode the Mohawk Trail (RT2) into North Adams. Ran Rt116 (best twisty road in the state) back to Deerfield, had a coffee, and did back roads back to town.
Had no problems with the foot, I told my buddy to give me plenty of room at stops. He usually rolls up beside me at a stop, today he stayed behind.
Bighead, just so ya know, even though I reside in the liberal bastion of Massachusetts, I am 1 of the remaining dozen or so non-libs. I'm not a victim. If I f-up I own it. I been sitting at home with my foot elevated for a month. So needed some wind!

I think the only thing that really scares me is the fact that I agree with Meathead.....never saw that coming.   2funny
thanks again,
Craig

BTW, Bob, that McD pic is too funny. and true  haha
Gryphon Rider, that is what it felt like though!!
