Divine Intervention?

I did not want to hijack Smoking Joe's post about an accident on the Dragon, but it sure reminded me of a ride 13 years ago.
I was 75 years old and riding with my sons and Six2Go (Doug) from NE Indiana down to the Smokies.
It was the first day and we were riding on winding roads on the way to Madison In. in order to cross over the Ohio. Doug was leading, I was next. My sons were behind me. I was riding my Valkyrie named Emanuel.
Now Doug was a very good rider but my skills weren't quite up to his, in fact, I was not riding my own ride, a mistake.
Doug was in the groove as he rounded a sharp left turn on this nice black top road. In the middle of the turn, there was a one track railroad crossing. I was countersteering nicely, i thought, until I noted what I thought was some oil on the road. Without thinking I let up on the countersteering and looked off the road. The Valkyrie followed my 'looking" I had reverted to being a 'rookie'!
I crossed the railroad track, NOT AT THE CROSSING, leaned over and hit the ballast and those six inch high rails at an angle!
Mark (Mad6Gun) was behind me and he said that my Valk's rear end jumped up in the air about a foot, TWICE! I don't remember that. All that I remember is that I was back on the road and banking right for the next curve. In the short straightaway after that I hit the brakes and stopped. It took a few seconds before the shaking started.
The Valkyrie was not damaged, no bent forks, no nuttin' However, THAT played in my head for the rest of the trip. To this day, though, I feel that I had some BIG unseen help at that time. . I could not have recovered that on my own.
Since I quit riding last year, I can say now that I never was injured in all of my years riding. I might have always been riding solo (as that's my name) but I can't help but think that someone else was riding with me.

I've had a few close calls and some that ended very close indeed. Your story reminded me of one of them. I was 16 and had a Yamaha RD350. It was a quick, good handling bike for the day. I was young and fearless though. There was a road that I used to ride that had 2 very sharp back to back curves. I would always try to improve my speed thru them as I rode it quite a bit. Well one time I carried too much speed thru the second corner and went off-road thru the ditch missing a telephone pole by inches. No damage to the bike or me, but it taught me it's not always necessary to get that extra 2 mph.

Many times after I got saved I looked back and realized how many times I had been saved from a potentially really bad situation. Of course I also realized that God had been there all the time even when I did not acknowledge or accept Him. I think that is one of the reasons I am so grateful.
One time when I was about 11 or 12 I had gone to a concert at a school. I was coming out after enjoying it and didn't realize I was in the midst of a bunch of bad kids. Well they surrounded me and I thought for sure I was going to get it. I dont know how to this day, but somehow I managed to get on the ground and crawl in between their legs and get out. When a few feet away I turned and looked at them still in a circle looking down and saying to myself what are they looking at. I almost wanted to go back and see because I was in disbelief that I was just able to do what I did. But I walked away and went home with a memory of how I was able to avoid a beating. I didn't realize it till later who had intervened in my behalf but I am grateful to this day.
I dont think I could be as comfortable riding if I did not know who's I was and who stands and protects me. I have had close calls and even thought to myself how did I just avoid that. I always pray about riding.

Had some incidents that I've walked away from that could ONLY be attributed to Divine Intervention. At the Time of some of them I wrote it off to good luck.
I no longer write it off to good luck.
While on the flight deck and flying in Nam I had No idea GOD was with me-I do NOW. RIDE SAFE.
