The council chambers filled up quickly after our Board of Works meeting. We had to provide extra chairs.
The TV channels were there. Cameras and smart phones were getting a workout.

Amber was sworn in by our Clerk Treasurer while about 50 of her friends and relation watched. It was a nice crowd with no slogans. New Haven is about 90 % white and this was a big deal!

Amber came well recommended and she was ok'd by the Police advisory Board and the Board of Works.  It sure was satisfying to me to see the true friendliness on the part of everyone.

It is nice to see good things happening in these times.

As long as she is a person of integrity, meets the required standards and can do the job, her fellow LEOs can trust her to watch their six, the community can depend on her and she fairly enforces the law, then good for her and your community.    Her race or gender are not a factor if she does the job.

Um, her race and gender are not an issue, whether she does her job well or not. Whether she does her job well, or not is the only factor, i would hope.

Coming from a mostly white area as well,  it really should not matter what race one belongs to like said.  If she can do the job,  good enough for me.

Is really not news to me or should not be in this day and age.

Same as a women president,  although you would think there is some female out there better than Hillary?

Color is irrelevant.  As long as she is TRUSTED and respected  by her fellow officers she will do just fine. I worked with officers of all races and genders. As long as they don't haul ass when things get tough, it's all good. I've seen some good female officers and more that can't hold their own. Those don't survive long. Ive also worked with some guys that weren't worth a crap either. Time will tell, and congrats to her!
