Good point, Britman.  However, I think there are those who will argue that anyone should be able to vote without proving who they are.
I certainly think ID should be shown, as it is with buying alcohol, cigarettes, renting a car, driving, or most other things that you can do as an adult.  Heck, you can't even get a job without ID.

And to further stir the pot, are welfare checks issued to "cash"?

I, for one, never understood the argument that an ID disenfranchises possible voters. In this society, how do you get SS, food stamps, welfare or any other government aid without an ID? I was asked for ID at the movie theater recently to prove I was a senior citizen.

If you shouldn't have to provide ID to vote, because it's a right...

...then you shouldn't have to provide ID to purchase a firearm, because that also is a right.

I'm curious if there is a way to find out how many votes were cast in the last election without ID ?

Every vote in Wisconsin and any other state that does not have ID requirements. In the land of cheese, we even get to register to vote the day of election and the ID requirements for that are sketchy.

Worked with a guy for 15 yrs. Said it was unfair that his mother need a ID but did not drive. He had 5 siblings. " you mean one of you can not take her to get a ID ? ". " how does she get to the bank, the grocery store etc, etc, etc. Crickets. Just a whining Democratic excuse.

My 88 y/o mother has never had a drivers license.

She had me take her to the DMV to get a photo ID so she could vote.

Britman, your info is correct for this election cycle only here in WI. The voter ID law passed 2 years ago in WI was stuck down by a federal judge (with a long history of siding with the liberal agenda) a month ago. The appeals court is allowing the ID law to stand for this election and then no more until the case is heard at the next level. This is the same federal judge that upheld the John Doe proceedings that was allowing dawn raids on private citizens for exercising their first amendment rights.
