I know this is trivial and has little to do with the election. But it seems to me that Trump would be getting better reading from a TelePrompTer by now ? He is still terrible at it. I don't think he has improved his delivery any at all in these months.

To be honest with you I think that is why his followers like him. Not polished. Does that make sense?

Yeah, I get it. I do understand the appeal. I am surrounded by Trump supporters and I think by now late in the game I understand them. I am not a good speaker by any means. But it seems like after all these months of doing this day in and day out, he'd be a little better by now. Like I say, I think it will have no bearing on the election.

I don't believe that Mr. Trump is at all focused on getting better at reading teleprompters. He's always been a more "off the cuff" guy.

I don't think Mrs. Clinton is any better at the teleprompter either and she is not known as an "off the cuff" person.

So I'd give Trump the edge while as he may not be adept with the teleprompter he can easily transition to off the cuff and back to the teleprompter throughout a speech.

Don't see that with Mrs. Clinton so much. Much more scripted.

Different styles.

One would also think that given the decades of lying, Clinton would be much better at it.  uglystupid2

Really ? I think she is a pretty good liar. (I'm not saying that's a good thing)

It takes quite a bit if expertise to read from anything and speak directly to an audience.

Trying to read from the screen and make constant eye contact to the audience while going back and forth to your place on the prompter can get very confusing and distracting, which is why Reagan was so comfortable in front of cameras and audiences.

Public speaking is an learned form of communication and is polished  by repetition, critiques and the desire to get better at it.

I actually find both of them hard to listen to for different reasons.
Trump because of his strange word structures and repetitions.

Hillary because of her shrill voice and panderings.

If I were their speaking coach I would grade them a D.

But then we are not voting for a speaker, at least I am not, some may be.

Good news is at least he doesn't use an earpiece to get coaching like Hillary.  cooldude

That's because you are comparing him to career, professional politicians that are much better at talking but that's all they do is talk.  Trump will get things done, then the talk won't matter or even be remembered for that matter.

I understand that. But usually when I do something over and over, I get better at it. He doesn't seem to have improved at all.
