This ought to help WI tourism out with some more IL people coming north?

http://www.channel3000.com/news/McDonald-s-to-add-brats-to-Wisconsin-menus/42420554

am still in shock some parts of the US has not even heard of a brat.

Here in WI brats, beer, and cheese are like bread and butter,  gotta have one of the three for sure weekly.

We travel to Wisc almost weekly as our lake property is on Beaver Dam Lake. Every grocery store we go to has brat stands outside where there's usually a line so I do concur about their popularity.

Many items are regional. The rest of the country doesn't know what it's missing by not having Italian Beefs as part of their fare. It pretty much seems to be a Midwest/Chicago area thing. Years ago, I was at a ballgame in Cincinnati at the Great American Ballpark. I walked around the entire park looking for an Italian Beef on the menu boards. I finally asked one of the vendors, who said he had never heard of it. Say WHAT? Now, if I had wanted a Philly Cheese Steak, they were plentiful. I guess just like crab cakes in Maryland, there's a lot of regional foods.

At McDonald's, in Hawaii, and this was back since I was a kid many, many moons ago and to this day, you can get Portuguese sausage and rice for breakfast. I think they might have Spam too. Spam is a big deal in Hawaii.

Loves me some Portuguese sausage and rice for breakfast.  cooldude

Drivin truck all over this fair land of Ours I wuz exposed to a LOT of regional foods. I was raised up where brats are considered normal. And Italian beef sandwiches. I tried a regional Pennsylvania food that I NEVER could git down much less Keep down-scrapple. Course NOT a big fan of grits either. Git me down around the Fl. Ga. line and catfish and eggs and corn bread DO come ta mind! Git up bouts Colorado and I want some rocky mountain oysters. RIDE SAFE.
