We're not all steeped in that jargon.  I find references to drinking the Kool-aid offensive.  The origin of the term can be traced back to what Jim Jones gave his followers with which to kill themselves.  I don't like the use of the term.

I find it appropriate. What term for wrong, dumb, foolish, stupid, etc would be better ?
