We have in our small town of 1100 a kid that graduated this year with my daughter in high school trying to make a go of it music wise.

He is self taught no lessons taken, musically inclined in several instruments, but seems the guitars are his favorite.  He wants to move to Nashville area and make a go of it.  He really has some homegrown talent and coming from a class of only 22 not too shabby.  He has put on some good shows for the public locally and wants to make it big.

Nashville is a tough place to make it. There are people playing on the streets that are amazing musicians and they can't find work. Pretty much need to go to Juilliard School of Music to get some place these days. Even then there are no guarantees. I wish him all the luck in the world but it's a tough business.  Better if you know someone that can help get you there.

The music industry is very finicky.

He should audition for a spot on The Voice.

that is what my daughter told him actually in her graduation speech for everyone to hear.  She was asked to represent the future part of the speaking graduation this year basically jokingly (she can be a clown/funny) pointing and eyeing over to him that we may have a future rock star in our group but only AFTER going to college.  Everyone laughed but is probably true, although he is not college material when it comes to studying, etc..  Good kid though.
