Honestly I am NOT a fan of Mel Gibson but I have to say this was an absolutely terrific movie about Pfc. Desmond T. Doss
I had read his story and convinced Bonnie to come see the movie with me
She was amazed.
True Grit if there ever was a man who embodied it this was one of those men
Strongly recommend this movie

My son went and saw this movie, said it is a must see movie. Guess I'll not wait for it to come out on DVD or cable. Well, maybe. I've very happy with my big screen at home and I don't have to avoid messes that other folks left. They are all mine.

I was going to wait for it to come out on DVD, so nice to know it's a must see, so that would mean my wife would have no interest.
I take it then, it is along the lines of Sgt York?
Nice to hear it is a True story. Like ones like that. American Sniper is another one.

Can't say, he didn't give me details. Didn't want to spoil the movie for me and I didn't ask. I did enjoy American Sniper also so, I may go to the theater. Wish there was still a "Drive In" around but, those seem to have faded away. Excellent memories of "Drive Ins". I also remember a few of the movies that were shown.

Used to work at a drive in several summers- it was my night job
All the food I could eat when they closed the concession at 1030pm
Yes there were other benefits............
Like when we lock the gate we could party with our girlfriends and nobody could bother us till the next evening.

We saw it Sat. She wasn't sure how good it would be being a 'army' movie but she really liked it. It was a long movie but didn't seem like it when you watched it.

Honestly I am NOT a fan of Mel Gibson ........
You're a better man than me. I will not spend a nickel on something he is involved in, nor will I even watch any of his movies when on TV. And my favorite movies include the Mad Max movies and Braveheart. I know people have been throwing around the racism, anti-semitic, sexist, etc. words like they're water, but this guy embodies them all as detailed in his writings and actions.

u did not like any of the lethal weapon movies mel gibson made way back when??
even if I do not like an actor, if the movie is good, I will go see it, but 99 percent of the time wait until it goes on TV. Most do eventually..

He's been in a lot of good movies, but I can't stomach even looking at him. He's a vile and disgusting human being, something he learned from his anti-semitic and racist father.

I have liked most of his movies he has made including the movies "We were soldiers" and "The Patriot" and "The Passion of the Christ".
There are plenty of actors who are good at their craft who I do not agree with their stance on many topics and I'm not going to list every one, but to name one is Robert DeNiro who made a video prior to the election and just recently stated (post election) he feels like he did after 9/11. Another is Liam Neeson who has made a name for himself being a tough guy on the screen but disapproves of our right to bear arms.
Actors are just that, pretenders, fake personalities for the public to watch on the silver screen, they are entertainers.
IMO Gibson has directed and produced some good films and put on a good show as an actor.

And, when not acting he has publically trashed Jews, Blacks, Mexicans, Gays, Cops, and berated women.
"I will report her to the snuggling people that take snuggling money from the wetbacks."
"You look like a snuggling pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of niggers, it will be your fault."
"I am going to come and burn the snuggling house down... but you will blow me first."
"You know what, you snuggling deserved it." — to Grigorieva after she asked, "What kind of man is that who would hit a woman when she is holding a child in her hands, hitting her twice in the face?"
"snuggling Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world… Are you a Jew?" — to male police officer during 2006 DUI arrest
"I want to kill him…I want his intestines on a stick… I want to kill his dog." Not dogs, too?
"I own Malibu… I am going to snuggle you." — to arresting officer during 2006 DUI arrest
"They take it up the ass. [laughs, stands up, bends over, points to anus] This is only for taking a crap." —to Spanish newspaper El Pais when asked what he thinks of gays
"With this look, who's going to think I'm gay? I don't lend myself to that type of confusion. Do I look like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?"

His girlfriend who he knocked up I think in her 20s or 30s, him in his 60s with a long gray beard now, is surely HOT though. Some women must still like him, if for nothing else his money... and for having his baby.
but yah, he has made and directed some good movies, just do not have to like him as a person of good character or standing.
I still would go see his movies if thought they were worth watching.

I have to say I've missed those remarks. I can remember some of the stuff you mentioned from his DWI arrest but all the other stuff is new to me.

Don't forget Stallone and Fonda to your list.
I will do nothing to help these people make money, by watching their movie at the theater. But I will watch their movie when it's on TV (PVR, skip through the commercials).

Just saw it. All are heroes.
Watching what they did, then hearing about all the cry babies who need a safe place, because someone said something they don't like, makes me almost ill. How far down we have fallen.
Bless all our veterans.
