A Channel 2 Action News viewer sent us a photo of a “Missing Man” table set up in honor of veterans at a Chick-fil-A location in Marietta.
Store manager Alex Korchan said the table, which features a letter and folded American flag and place setting for the veteran, is just part of the way the store is honoring veterans.
“Our team just decided we wanted to honor veterans and do a setup honoring military,” Korchan said.
On Wednesday, which is Veterans Day, Chick-fil-A will offer a free meal to veterans and their immediate families from 5 to 8 p.m.
Korchan said the whole Atlanta market for Chick-fil-A is doing military appreciation in some way.
His location on Johnson Ferry Road in Marietta, along with the Missing Man table, also asked its team members who have family who are active or retired military to share photos of them.
They used them to create a poster, where customers can also write names of loved ones lost or retired veterans.
“We’ve had a lot of people who have come in and seen it and been touched by it,” he said. “It’s been special to see.” The Missing Man table and poster were put on display Saturday and will remain at the East Cobb location through the week. Customers can also write a "thank you" letter to military servicemen and women.
“It’s easy to forget and not something that we think about, but many of us have family members who serve and lots of us have lost people,” Korchan said.
I sincerely appreciate Chick-Fil-A's effort. So much so, I will from time to time partake of their meals. That may not sound like much but, you have no idea how much I dislike chicken. Yes, this touched me.
