They had it coming, big time!!

If it was supposed to be off the record, I wonder how NYP reports this?

They wanted to know about access.  If it is to be four years of attack Trump news, just deny all MSM access to the whitehouse, period.  They just make up their own news anyway, why help them at all?  Let them eat crap cake.

Marginalize and ignore them and freeze them out.  Good on you Don! :cooldude:

QuoteThe meeting was off the record, meaning the participants agreed not to talk about the substance of the conversations.

So much for honor among thieves I guess.  ;)

I thought it was great. They have had that coming for a long time and no one else had the guts to do it.

It seems to me a free press is important in our society. Freezing them out doesn't seem to help us in any way. If the press says something that he feels is inaccurate he has a pretty big platform to get his side of the story out.

Jess from VA

And my point is if the MSM have only a goal of attacking the man each and every day, creating hate and discontent, and simply pushing leftist agendas, then they are not really the press at all and should be kicked to the curb.  If this is how they act in WH briefings and press conferences, they should simply be taken off the list.  They have no entitlement to face time with the president or his press secretary. I doubt he would do it anyway.  I would.

Even though the Zero got mostly 8 years of softballs, BJ's and reach-arounds by MSM, he still had relatively few press conferences.... the least transparent presidency in modern history.

There are objective news organizations who can be admitted to WH briefings.

Lets say it this way,, the press interviewed you,, and the next day in the headlines everything you said was distorted in a way you did not say it,, and even printed things you did not say,, would you be likely to interview with them again?

NOT those that start with or include or are in bed with NBC CBS ABC CNN PBS, the others almost always give a more well balanced view, some better than others.

If I was president I would expect many false statements to be said about me. I would get on one of the many media outlets and tell my side of the story. It's not like the presidency is impotent in their ability to get coverage. The problem I see with "freezing" them out is it is a very slippery slope that could very easily result in what the Russians vouch for press. If you are going to be president I would think you would be able to develop a little thicker skin.

Frankly all these WH press briefings and Q & A with press secretaries is nothing but horseshit to fill time on the nightly news (and make the reporters allowed in feel self important).

The press should be given bullet papers briefing them on anything the WH wants to go out by email.  If they have questions, let them submit them in writing, and get written answers.  They will get better thought out and more complete answers.  And no reporter can make himself a pain in the ass... again, to make himself look good to his colleges.

The Secret Service has a hard enough time keeping the grounds secure without a bunch of privileged wanna be socialist reporters (propagandists) running around loose on the grounds like so many chickens. The MSM has demonstrated at all times during the campaigns and election to be the enemy of the president elect (likely his entire cabinet), and of the people.  They should be treated accordingly.

Or do it by video conference.  They don't need to be inside the wire at all.

That is quite good Serk.  Exactly how it plays out except of course the stakes are much higher.  Maybe as high as Trump Steaks.  I here they are most costly.

I would have loved to have been a fly in that room yesterday.  It will not change them.  If you are a journalist report on what you have heard.  If you are writing opinions then state you are an opinion writer and do not pretend to be a journalist.

This just in, meathead dislikes "free press", I quote meathead,

Quote from: meathead on Tue 22, Nov 2016, 12:34:17"It seems to me a free press doesn't seem to help us in any way."

That right there is how most of the "free press" reports statements these days.

I can't find any news orgs called 'the others'....

G-Man

If your "news" organization's coverage of the candidates prior to the election was 90 : 1 negative for Trump, you don't get in.  You will be re-evaluated in a year.

In reality, I could go to 25 or 30 : 1 , maybe.

We need opposition, on both sides, to keep things balanced, but it's not opposition we have any longer.  It's turned into these stations being arms of their parties.  If we held them accountable in how they report, by denying them access, they'd move towards a more fair and balanced approach to covering the "news".

From the rest of the article I would conclude that NONE of the current MSM "Talking Heads" are going to get much access to him.
