Robert, I hope you have a happy Thanksgiving holiday as well. I do plan to eat too much turkey and I think it is every American's duty to do so.
These days I'm thinking we have lost contact with the true meaning of the Thanksgiving holiday. We should be thankful. We should be a thankful people every day and not just on a specific holiday. The purpose of the Thanksgiving holiday itself is to remember what the settlers of the Plymouth colony did after surviving their first year in America. Actually we should say what about half of the settlers did as about half of them did not survive that first year. It's a good time to get together with family and friends, to eat too much, and to remember our history thinking about what it means to us today.

This will be one of the first times I ever had Thanksgiving with friends instead of family. Sallie is going to smoke the turkey, so I'll probably have to eat too much ham -Mike "who know, maybe I like smoked turkey..."

So much to be thankful for, on this Thanksgiving and every day. I'm lucky spend the holiday with family, and especially blessed that my Dad is with us to celebrate. These are times to cherish. Hope everyone has a great time with their loved ones!

Wow. I was just reminded of my house on Thanksgiving when I was little. Stuffed sleeping Uncles in every chair and on the couch as football played on teevee... It's been a long time since I thought about that... thanks -Mike

Ramie, good quotes to live by. However, it does get old if kept surrounded by idiots at work (or in life in general), but more so work since having to see them daily. My wife constantly gets bombarded with the higher ups to fix the idiots at work's screwups since they are incompetent to fix it themselves. I say get rid of the problem who starts it all the time vs. coping out allowing it to happen day after day. Anyways, happy thanksgiving all. Is it just my family/relatives, but does it seem like more so that as years pass, just the immediate family gets together for thanksgiving and especially Christmas vs. all the relatives coming together? WE do not do family reunions anymore either since the last one only a few of us showed up to it and after that we decided to not rent the shelter park anymore. It sure made cooking on the grill much easier since my brother and I were normally in charge of that. When grandma/pa were alive as a kid in my early teens, all 10+ aunts/uncles and their kids would go to their house for Christmas even into their 30s and some age 40s. Nowadays, lucky any of us see each other anymore with some passing on already. My aunt even stated to me recently that no one gets together anymore except for funerals AFTER they die and even then not all show up...
