So...much zooming about the countryside ensued last week...something over 2800 miles...and 1260 miles of *that* was done in just under 21 hours of hard running...

This was all in "Big Iron"...the Texan's requisite big Dodge pick-em-up...and towing a trailer...62 mph average on that 21 hour run...heh...just like the Valk...it's all in the cylinders (Big Iron harbors a tweaked 8.0L V-10).

Much speed was had. Many miles were made. Many heavy things were shifted about. Much dinosaur juice was consumed (V-10's are not shy about consumption).

Anyway, amongst all the zooming about...this happened:

Congrats on the new sweetie.  She looks like she needs a little lov'n.   Something I have no doubt you will provide.

Reference that Dodge V10, hmmm..........    The wife and I packed up the RV/Toyhauler with the fat gurl safely secured inside ( the Valkyrie ) being towed by my Dodge (Cummins powered) for a Thanksgiving visit to my daughter's place in southern Mississippi (almost 700 miles one way).    I'm willing to bet my fuel mileage was significantly better and I would almost guarantee I was pushing a lot more air.    That RV has quite a bit of frontal area to push air and most likely weighed quite a bit more.   IOWs, I highly recommend a Cummins.  Wink    cooldude

Oh yeah, I had a 4x4 Dodge Cummings in the prior Big Iron...LOVED it...on a standard tranny it would have done around 17-19mpg with this load. I put around 400,000 miles on it...much of that "moving heavy things about"...

It got killed here: http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2005/11/17/crunch.html

The V-10 in this 4x4 does 10mpg under pretty much all conditions and all loads...I can push it down to 9mpg if I *really* try...

For smooth, set ya back in your seat power it can't be beat...and it doesn't really care that there's a trailer back there...

Oh, and for those that hadn't noted it yet...this is the one and only time I've trailered a motorcycle...

Though...in years past...I've picked up a few that were in boxes....lots of boxes  Undecided

Bike’s gotta have a name…she’s given me a couple ideas already.  Confirmation will no doubt come very soon.

What ever it is, make sure it's not....... Number 2.   Grin

Hmmm... Seeing as he got it because of a Mister Two.... (Which had to have a different name in French speaking countries because it sounded too much like "est merdeux") Number 2 might actually be very fitting...
