I just retired after 35 years in the fire service. Chief since 95. It was a great career along with 28 yrs in law enforcement. I wouldn't have traded what I've done for anything!
Anyway, prior to leaving the department I had to chose someone that I could train to take my place. I chose a young guy within the department for the job with hope's he could do the job. The District Fire Board took the recommendation and it began with a 6 month probationary period. During that time I found that this guy knew it all. After 3 months I tried to convince the board that he may not be what we need. I kept working him with no improvement and he became very cocky.
The board at no time approached me for a review of his performance or abilities. They paid no attenton to the information I tried to provide. When I questioned the board chair as to why, all I got was a shoulder shrug. I told the board he was not qualified to no avail. I also told them there "was something about this guy I couldn't put my finger on"? All I got in reply was: you were a cop too long!
I left the department on mixed terms. One of the board members was this guy's best friend. After I left all was good in the boards eyes even after I cautioned them about this guys demeanor. Everything was just wonderful! Well, not so much. My replacement was arrested for child porn / creating child porn about a month ago. All of which was done after I left. Events took place at the station and at his home both. He has little kids and is married. Guess my cop intuition was right. For those wondering, this has been all over the media. This is a very public case. These are some sick individuals and that is being nice!
I have no use for these people! They are the worst scum of the earth. I handled these cases as a cop and it was very hard to keep my composure! I have my own solution for people that commit this crime and it isn't prison unless Bubba is their bunk mate.

I have no problem executing every child molester. I could probably pull the switch or lever or whatever it is they do these days. But I have no desire for torture. |

I am all for executing them. To me there is no worse crime. I just don't see the logic in torture. |

In prison there is a ranking system (to put it simply). Child molesters are on the bottom. They are just above those who kill older people with no remorse.
A friend of mine was in prison and told us some of the stories. I will not go into detail.
He was transferred back here for another trial. About this time there were two teens that beat an elderly lady to death. She would not have harmed anyone , and would have given them anything.
In jail , they told everyone the were in for a robbery (basic story). My friend let the truth out. One fell down a flight of stairs and the other ended up slipping in the shower and if I remember , never woke up.
The moral is , if they are in prison , let the truth be known , and society will prevail.
BTW , it took almost six years to get my friends pardon . (his ex set him up)
