WOW! That is a real shame! I hope folks are getting through this and rain is on the way for some relief. Such a beautiful area. such a waste! Chong and I drove down to spend Thanksgiving with my son Eric in Newnan, GA and the area around Cumberland was burned and smokey, but nothing like that. Hang in there folks and we'll pray for rain.

Crap I wouldn't go cancel yet - I would contact and ask them what the conditions are and what they are expected to be about then first. It might be still smoke in the air - OTOH - it could be all the fires out, but just the forest remains . As long as your cabin is Ok - I'd probably go - it would do more to help them recover. Just my perspective, and feel free to make your own decision. |

This number is still a miracle considering how fast (& far) it started jumpin'. 80+ mph gusts jus' as it started gettin' dark, many had NO warning 'till it was in their back yards. From the Chimneys (where it started) to Cobbly Knob to Wears Valley is probably a 15+/- mile radius with Gburg smack dab in the middle.
Soon as the wind kicked up it was jus' everywhere, all at once! |
