We did the local Toy Run yesterday. I'm told there were 1800 bikes. One of my HD buddies is a member of the club that puts it on. Today he reluctantly came up and told me there was a group of about 20 huddled around my bike talking about it and taking pics. He said he didn't want to tell me because we rib each other all the time about Harley vs Honda. I told him not to worry, it was only because there were 1746 Harley's and 54 "other" bikes. I've never been worried about what others think of my bike, only that I'm happy with it. I think it truly bothered him that so many were ignoring all the Harley's.

Back when I used to go to those kind of events with tons of bikes, I loved to watch the Harley folks hope on their bike, then try to figure out why their key wasn't working, then finally realizing they were on the wrong identical looking cookie-cutter Harley...

Honestly it's nothing special. Just different from what they are used to seeing.

Just different from what they are used to seeing? Isn't that kind of the definition of special?
Your bike is special. Enjoy. I do.  Grin

those around the Valk I/S were probably looking down those velocity stacks (all 6 of them -to figure out how the engine fired out of them stacks on top?)   Roll Eyes

Nice clean green machine for sure.

My all black I/S is not nearly as purdy, but once cleaned up,  shines pretty good for a 15 year old bike which I do not care if I get some more scratches here and there on it unlike the HD crowd spending 20K on up for their near new bikes.

I only once had two what appeared to have been HD riders come up to my bike as I was walking out of the grocery store to the bike and once they got close enough to see it was a HONDA, they quickly walked away from it, but could tell they were confused on when HD made such a bike?   2funny

ONLY other time, once again after cleaning it up (that is why I do not clean my bike but 1-2 times all summer),  is a guy followed me into the Ace Hardware store and wanted to look over my bike and ask me tons of questions on it.   The 5 minute run into the store was a 20 minute outside conversation first that I did NOT have too much time to spare at that time.

Nothing special I disagree.  Very sharp MH.  You also have me thinking that sumbrella with custom stitching.

It was on a toy run this year  Toys for tots sponsered by the Legion Riders in New Paris, OH back in August ( to darn cold this time of year ) that so many gathered around my bike so I know how this works.

Like my Grandfather always said "no use pussyfooting around"

(Wait, that's not true.  He might have said that, but I never heard it Roll Eyes)

She's resting comfortably in my cellar, waiting for either spring, or a good rainstorm, followed by 40+ degrees.  We had snow last night and the Highway guys go nuts with the salt round here.  She don't look any dif than when I got her, but is a world away from what she was.  I still haven't ruled out a trip this winter, maybe you can see her in person.

Bob, with your upholstery ability I think it would be worth it to have them make you a seat and then recover it how you like. They are expensive but worth EVERY penny in my opinion. When we would go on long multi day trips my butt would be killing me after 4 days of 8-10 hour days. It would get to the point I'd dread getting back on in the morning. With the Russell I've done multiple long days with no issues. It's without a doubt the No. 1 thing I've done with the bike. Just wish I'd have pulled the trigger sooner.

you guys do realize that just like Non harley guys think that all harleys look alike, and non Valkrie guys think all Valks look alike. well yea they do..except for the colors, just like Harleys,,just like honda has a bunch of different models of bikes so does Harley..but take the Valk from what 97 to 2005 they all look alike..take the flhtcui harley, they all look alike...
and for Meathead, did it ever dawn on you that they were showing you respect for your bike just by looking at it and your buddy just wanted you to see it?

As anyone who has met realizes fashion and I don't mix well. But your pic reminded me of something my daughter and grandson have been doing lately. Kind of like we used to play "slug bug" they play "man bun". No hitting though. I never really noticed them until they pointed them out to me. Evidently they are becoming popular.  Shocked

While I do poke fun at Harleys, I also greatly respect the "Ride what you like" axiom as well...
