I don't think justice has fully been served. The kid still needs to face criminal charges. What if the driver was a woman, or an man who couldn't defend himself against that? Nobody should have to risk getting beaten up while doing a public service job.
I half heartedly agree with Obama's pardons of "no-harm" drug offences. The empty cells need to be refilled with those who do harm to others. Knock-out game, gang initiations stunts, $hit like in the video, etc. should get harsher sentences. Any crime committed with an illegal gun, 25 > Life , no pleas, unless it gets more illegal guns off the streets. Make the punishments stiffer and keep the animals away from the good people.
But with Mayors like Rom Emanuel (have no idea how he sleeps at night) and Wilhelm in NY blaming the criminal's surroundings, caused by white men and a police state, instead of the criminals themselves, our cities will never be free of crime and violence.
And now, seems there has been a uptick in "hate crimes" since the election. Wilhelm blames Trump's "words" during the campaign. They distorted what Trump actually said, pounded at the purposeful distortion for over a year, created an atmosphere of hate and divisiveness which is all their candidate ran on, and yet it's all Trump's fault. Video after video of previous presidential candidates and presidents during state of the union addresses saying the exact same things about Mexico and the border, but because the bigot card is all they have and is such a good tool, Trump's a racist and every act of hate is his fault.
(now, what defines a hate crime? here in NY, a muslim woman, wearing a head covering was harassed. she said she was yelled at to go back home and called a terrorist. she was not touched at any time during the brief confrontation. the media is calling it a hate crime and police are looking for the bad guys. hassidic jews have been made fun of and yelled at and verbally abused for as long as I can remember, but no outrage, not hate crimes. after 9/11, idiots were verbally abusing indian sikhs in their ignorance, no outrage, not hate crimes.)
