tyres in australia 150 80R17

not easy to source a front tyre for my valk in australia bias ply or radial
my local bike shop insisted the bias ply front tyre were correct for the valkrie  I have a radial on the back and the tyre placard stuck on the rear fender states 150/80R17 the R means radial
any wisdom on this subject is greatly appreciated

Either will work. I've had both. Currently have a bias rear up front.

In WA, never have any problems getting tyres. 1 to 2 days max to order in.
Running Bridgestones.
Need to order another front myself.
