On that fateful Sunday morning 75 years ago, our country was plunged into war. Thousands died. As a country we rebounded, came together and fought a great aggressor.
To the aging warriors (so few left now) who fought for the freedom we enjoy now, We will NEVER forget!!! We will pass the sacrifice you made for us to the generations.

The aging warriors and so few,  indeed.   I heard yesterday there are less than 900,000 left and passing at 492 per day or 179,000 per year.   Gosh darn we owe them so much and so does Europe and the Orient.  It was month later that my Father enlisted in the newly created Army Air Corp.  I am positive so many on this site had Fathers that did the same.  What they did was unprecedented in the annals of history.  The fought a two front war thousands of miles from home and destroyed the forces of tyranny in less than four years.  Thanks Dad and to every one that sacrificed so much and to those that paid the ultimate price.

My father was one who enlisted shortly after Pearl Harbor and went on to serve 6 years in the Navy. While as best as I can tell he never saw front line duty, he did perform valuable services behind the lines. He was also part of the Bikini Atoll atomic bomb testing. They later told all of those present that they were sterile...... apparently some one was wrong...... Roll Eyes

December 7 1941 a date which Will live in infamy. As many times as I've heard that Speech it STILL brings tears to my eyes. I've been fortunate to meet and converse with some WWII Warriors. A lot of what transpired during War 2 we are still dealing with today. We have one WWII Man still active in our church.  Without these fine MEN And WOMEN that volunteered we could have been speaking German or Japanese as our first language. GOD Bless every one of them! Truly a debt that can't be repaid. RIDE SAFE.

Just not 5 minutes ago I met a gentleman wearing a USS ARIZONA hat. He wasn't on the ship but stationed on shore.  Wink

My Dad enlisted in the Navy in 1942 (The day he turned 17).

He spent the rest of his teenage years riding around the South Pacific on a Destroyer Escort (two actually, one was so damaged from a torpedo that its crew was reassigned to other ships).

There's not much I can really say which hasn't been said many times over through the years, so as my comment I will just leave this here for all those on this date.

Many, many people have already forgotten about it and people will also forget about 9-11-01. Just look around.
