My favorite also. The deaf will hear, the blind will see and I can't help but wish my wife could but touch the hem of His robe.

So many of them are noble and beautiful, while others are just plain nauseating (Grandma Got Run Over...). Hard to top Oh Holy Night for its power, but in recent years I've enjoyed this one a lot. Some songs seem to capture the awesome majesty and better than others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cP26ndrmtg

I grew up in the Mennonite church. We love singing hymns in four part harmony. My favourite Christmas hymn is, Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming. Performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir: https://youtu.be/kU-E46o0sp0An excellent version by a young man who recorded and mixed all the parts, a capella: https://youtu.be/X3YHODperFMMy favourite song of all time is usually performed at Christmas, the Hallelujah Chorus, from Handel's Messiah.

I love Christmas and what it's supposed to mean. I hate what Christmas has become to many, I have to remind myself frequently of the true meaning of Christmas and swipe away the Commercial Holiday Christmas has become to many. The wife and I watch a lot of the Hallmark Channel this time of year. I can't say I have a favorite Christmas song, I like the vast majority. I am tempted to join in and sing along frequently but, the wife strongly discourages this activity. Something about carrying a tune in a bucket or the inability to do so. Shrug...................

I come at it from a very different perspective... I have some CDs of Solstice Music from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society that help me get through this time of year. These are NOT your usual Christmas songs (The tunes are, but the words are changed to revolve around the H.P. Lovecraft/Cthulhu/Old Gods mythos)... That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die. --Necronomicon Here's a playlist of a bunch of them if you want to risk going insane: (If you're easily offended by mythological evil Great Old Ones don't follow the link. Wouldn't post it, but I can't be the ONLY Lovecraft fan here... can I?) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rflsHvtTTGw&list=PL1RUS3vUFz3BS-AWQE7lrnPKwiez_22MS

My favourite song of all time is usually performed at Christmas, the Hallelujah Chorus, from Handel's Messiah. Quote by Gryphon Rider
Absolutely! I sang this in the choir in the sixth grade . It tells a powerful story. It is majestic. It has long earned the title of 'classical music" It is somewhat immune to the variations imposed by modern day singers upon other Christmas songs and it cannot be 'improved' upon by singers who think that they can.
On the opposite side, I visited a church (not mine) where the pastor and a small rock group sang 'What's Happening in the Barn?" ...........It was crap. I left.

Messiah is actually in my current church's hymn book. Every so often we convince one of the conductor types in our congregation to try to lead it. Usually the request is met with a deer-in-the-headlights response. I think if we were to try it about five times in a row, we would start to get it mostly okay, but it might not be good for the leader's nerves. I do love singing it, especially when I'm surrounded by competent bass singers. When others start following my lead, look out!

Had a Christmas program every year when I was in high school and we always performed that song. Did it so many times I know it by heart. I love how everyone stands up for it and the history behind that

Bing Crosby and David Bowie An odd combination no doubt, but it works. Only because Bing was willing to sing background throughout and let Bowie shine. Class act in this regard. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy https://youtu.be/ADbJLo4x-tk

Performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir: https://youtu.be/kU-E46o0sp0As beautiful a rendition of Lo, How A Rose as one could have. Enjoy, everyone - and, Thanks GR! As for traditional carols, preferably sung the traditional way, I'm a "The First Noel" and a "Hark, The Herald Angels Sing" guy... For "Little Drummer Boy" I'm partial to the Vienna Boys Choir. Merry Christmas, everyone! Hope to see most if not all of you in Billings!
