Replacing rear turn signal

Not the bulb, the entire unit.  Anybody know the procedure?  The service manual is pretty much no help.

Hi postoak,

The rear fender has to come off to get the signal lights out.  There is a connector in there that you need to get at in there.

1. take off the seat
2. take off the side covers
3. take off the grab bars
4. take off the push pins that are under the side covers. one on each side
5. take off the two push pins behind the module under the seat
6. take off the two push pins inside the fender at the back.  They stick out on each side
7. pull the fender off.

The signal lights will be full accessible.

Thank you Brian.  I'll give it a go when the new parts arrive.

I broke it off when pulling my car into the garage.  Since then I've moved my freezer to allow me to get my bike over more to the side.

I got around to doing this today.  It wasn't too bad.

There are a couple of steps I added to make things easier.

1) I took out the two screws that hold on the rear brake light and lifted it up and away as far as the wires would allow.

2) The plastic piece that the brake light and the turn signal is attached to (Rear Fender "A") -- I removed the two screws that hold it on to get more room.  It is extremely difficult, if not impossible to accomplish the task without doing this.

The hardest part of the whole operation was getting the rubber grommet that surrounds the turn signal where it goes through the body back into the hole.  It is so much larger than the hole it goes into that I thought it was going to be impossible.  It took me about 15 minutes to get it in.

The two clips that are on top at the front are the push type.  Just take a phillps screwdriver and push in, then they pop out.

The other four are the flat head type.  Fortunately, I was able to access the back side in all four cases and just pushed the pin out from the back.
