Obama is a pussy and will cry about them taking his toys. Anyone else would say you have 24 hours to return it or we come take it back. He will turn to hus Muslim friends and BLM rioters for some direction, then go sit in the corner of his safe space until China gives Iit back.  :uglystupid2:0

IMO this is China trying to flex their muscles in the China Sea. I guess since it's name is the China Sea, China feels it belongs entirely to them with no room for international waters.

From what I read the drone was a tool used for readings of temperature, depth and salinity. Who knows what it was real use is for in the military. I read it's cost was about $150k so and is available commercially but again what our military did to up grade it only they know.

One thing about China is they love to steal designs.

Too bad it didn't have a self destruct device inside.

I am shooting from the hip on this, BO borrower a ton of money from China, may be he thinks this is an installment. I can't even stomach watch him on TV, because my gut feeling is he talks out of both side of his mouth.
I always think, the best way to beat a criminal is to think like a criminal, so looking in a different direction. Now if it was me and wanted to get my opponents information, now if someone were to let them take the drone by choice and maybe the drone has some internal device for gathering opponents data.

But who knows, or is it prelude to confrontation!

I can not verify it but saw that Trump told them to keep the dam thing.Obummers on vacation so he's out of the picture, thank god,and I wish he would stay that way.

I'm curious, how did the Chinese get this drone, find it, steal it, track and intercept it, how did they get it, I haven't heard.

That makes a difference IMHO.

"The incident, the latest encounter in international waters in the South China Sea region, occurred earlier this week about 100 miles off the Philippine port at Subic Bay.
The USNS Bowditch had stopped in the water to pick up two underwater drones. At that point, a Chinese naval ship that had been shadowing the Bowditch put a small boat into the water. That small boat came up alongside and the Chinese crew took one of the drones.

Interesting...........   So, I assume our folks did nothing to stop this?   Really doesn't matter, if that's correct, they took/stole it.    One never knows for sure what the drone may have really been doing but, they will know everything about it's design before they give it back.

I do hope that once returned all on board systems are ripped out and destroyed so no Trojan horses are allowed to infiltrate anything else.

If this research was being done from a war ship none of this crap would be going on!

First Trump said it was unacceptable and next said the Chinese can keep it.

So much for being the 'tough' guy who gets things done, hum? I guess his color should be yellow, not golden.

If the software/hardware has been corrupted why bother to get it back?

I believe the issue is that they claim it's not International Waters, but the rest of the world or locals claim otherwise.

Is this not a case of Piracy?

When is the rest of the world going to get the balls to say No to China, and stop all trade with them? I personally try not to buy items known to be from China. It's very hard, and at times, what you want doesn't come from anywhere else but there.

@Britman: first, he is the president elect and it is about time to behave accordingly. 'Let them keep it' doesn't cut.

Answering the question: what I would do? Exactly what the Pentagon did: demand immediate return of the American drone (http://www.cnn.com/2016/12/16/politics/chinese-warship-underwater-drone-stolen/) and get it done (http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/17/world/asia/china-us-drone.html).

Preferably included with an official apology, as those are international waters and the drone was properly marked as property of US.

Prior to his inauguration, he has zero ability to 'do anything' about it.

They should have had a 50 cal. on board to cut a hole in the water directly in front of that small boat.

Let em steal another drone tomorrow with a full load of c4 and ball bearings inside

then set if off on contact like an 007 car

rules of engagement my ass, that Chinese vessel pirated a US naval aircraft in international waters and the  POTUS let it happen? for shame

The Spanish American war was fought over less  and yes it was an act of war and no I am not saying we should go to war over it but there is such a thing as proportionality

While we're commenting on this incident is there anyone fully fami8liar with maritime law regarding unmanned vessels in international waters?

I wonder what alongside means in that report.  I'm not  certain this is worthy of act of war but then I don't know what was contained in the drone.  At the least we should have done something to stop them or we should retaliate by taking something of theirs.   ;)

Hef

Our highly respected (Ha Ha)  president can merely tell them to stop it, just like he did to Putin about hacking. If you saw his last speech he said when he and Putin met he told Putin to stop the hacking or there would be dire consquences and Russia stopped. I'm sure that is true because as I watched their brief encounter at the meeting, I'm pretty sure I saw Putin shaking in his boots.  :2funny: :2funny:

There are laws about finding a ship at drift. Salvage laws. But in todays world, would a drone be considered adrift or "unmanned", and therefore subject to Salvage?

I wonder too, I never looked, is there video or statements, and what really does these words mean?

I am not suggesting war. I was thinking more along the line of the world court (what ever that is, I do not know). I know China copies/steals from everyone they can, so why is the world dealing with them? I can do without one more Dollar Store, cheap crap that no one really needs.

Gone on vacation for 17 days  :2funny:  The real mans man I tell you  :2funny: and they talk about Trump who is not even president yet.   :crazy2:

I would think that the Chinese are as curious and untrusting as us and wanted to know exactly what was in those drones. Maybe that was the intent all along to allow them to do what they did since there was no immediate retaliation or trying to get the thing back. Especially since they had been following the US ship all along.
