Ive ridden their 990 for about a half hour on a manufacturers ride course (over the river and thru the twisty woods roads then back on the highway course) up in Americade and apart from the seat kinda being on the skinny side and the tall seat height the bike was wicked fast and responsive.  You planning on an adventure trip?

If I get a chance to go again this June I want to ride one.

I want to ride the Super Duke GT. Looking for a non-Valk. Love my Valk, but want to get a sport tourer and it is getting amazing reviews...trying to sell the Mrs on the safety features. The cornering ABS looks to be phenomenal, and off of that come traction control, cruise control and a host of other features that really make it an all-weather capable ride. I mean I ride the Valk everyday now anyway LOL

Hey Tony:
Like you I have looked at other bikes and also fell in lust with the Super Duke. There are a few things to consider though. The Austrians must think everyone who rides is 7 feet tall. That seat height is way up there. KTM's do get great reviews but I'm not sure how they do for longevity. I have heard them referred to as the "Austrian Harley". Seems like they like to vibrate parts off and onto the road. If you have a servicing dealer, you may be OK but the KTM dealer network seems to be lacking. Some of the dealers only sell & service the smaller dirt bikes of the brand. I can't verify some of this first hand as I've never even seen a KTM in person, but I do read road tests and soak up info like a sponge.
Hope ya get to ride one.  cooldude

I sat on a 2016 Super Duke GT today. I am just able to flat foot it. I would have 2 servicing dealers. I have been reading and watching every review that I can find and it seems for the most part that everyone gives it high marks. Some have reported buzzy in the pegs and bars. The huge mult-brand dealer has a boring 4 mile escorted test drive that has only right hand turns, no to up test ride. They have a 15 minute or 15 mile period that you can bring it back, so any 2-up would be after purchase. And they do not have a 2017 and are not sure when they will get one.
I called another dealer and he gave me the out the door price over the phone, unsure of their test ride policy. Only down side is that they are 40 miles away. All in all, there are not too many models that have the electric suite of safety features that MUST be present in my next bike...

Youngest son brought the 1290 out to my place about 3 weeks ago.  120 miles on the clock.  Bit chilly so only 4 miles for me.  Saw 110.  Pulls hard at 1/2 throttle but the rest we'll see in the spring

Looks like MotoCity in Avondale AZ has a 2016 Super Duke GT demo bike and they allow 2 up test rides...not sure exactly when we will get out there to ride one...

Same as any bike but, rest assured, you will work on it. They're not known as Austrian Harley's for nothing. For longevity and reliability, go Super Tenere or Africa Twin.
