Just wanted to say I've been a member for only a few weeks (bought an '02 Valkyrie on Thanksgiving), and you all have been so helpful with advice, parts (my bike was a fixer-upper, and some members had just what I needed to make my bike complete), and more.

I look forward to posting before-and-after photos when I'm done with the restoration.

Have a great holiday!

Congrats.  You'll like it here.

Ignore most of the political stuff, or not...jump in with both feet if you want, but otherwise it's a great place to be.

Have 36K miles on the CBX.  I'm the original owner.
Have 18K miles on the Trident.  I'm the second owner, and did a full restoration on it to make it a reliable daily runner:

Another six addict - welcome aboard!

Hate to hijack a thread, but I have a CBX just like yours - what can you tell me about that backrest/rack? I'd love to have something similar. Is it detachable?

Merry Christmas Rudy!  A guy in the CBX Owner's Club in Texas adapted an Amco luggage rack by modifying the four downtubes and fitting milled aluminum clamps to each to attach to the saddlebag mounting frames.  This was 25 years ago and I don't know if I could locate his name or if he still does that, sorry.
I'll be putting the bike up for sale as soon as I have the Valk sorted out.

The Valkyrie I bought had been stored for a few years, so I'm replacing tires, getting the carbs rebuilt, replacing the muffler covers/tips, adding a batwing fairing, getting seats recovered, some other minor sprucing up.

The only other thing I "think" I need is a centerstand ... does anyone have experience with them?  Is putting the bike up on the centerstand a 2-person job?  Anyone have one for sale?

Here's one of my additions:  I bought a luggage rack on eBay but knew it'd be too small, so I also bought an old square-tube luggage rack platform and grafted it to the top of the small one.

Thanks Glaserbeam, I figured at least part of it was fabbed. Gave me a lead with the name and an idea anyways.
And Merry Christmas to you too!  cooldude

OK, the guy who modified the Amco luggage rack to fit the CBX is Dave Stremmel, from Houston or Pasadena, Texas.  You may be able to track him down through the CBX Owner's CLub, cbxclub.com, or google him.

On the day of purchase (mangled muffler tips, muffler covers, rear fender, and rear turn signals; rough front fender; shredded passenger seat and backrest pad (not pictured); confining shape of main seat; no windshield, luggage rack, saddlebags, or centerstand; boring black color):

Five weeks later (with the help of eBay, Amazon, Pep Boys, and VRCC members):

To-Do list:  get tank repaired/repainted.

Very nice. Love the fairing. Where'd you get it? Mine needs a new windshield, that looks really sharp.

Very nice indeed. But what's up with that 'relief' in the seat?

Memphis Shades Batwing Fairing, via Amazon.  Fairing + mounting kit + shield = $500

The relief area is something that started with bicyclists, and most pro bicycle racers have that - reduces pressure in sensitive areas, especially when concentrated on bicycle seats.  Not as critical on motorcycle seats, but was pioneered by Saddleman Seats company for motorcycles.
