I WISH!!!

Chrome side overs. Hwy pegs. Trumpet air horn. Back rest/rack. Driving lights.

Someone local is going to get a good bike. It might even run after putting fresh gas and battery into it.

Very tempting, but then I'd hafta figure out where to put a 3rd bike in the garage, another title payment, insurance etc... Hmmm...

I'm sure someone will beat me to the punch, but has anyone figured out where in Texas he is?

He could have left better contact info, all that's there is a PM to his account.

I'm glad it's 1500+ miles for me, cause I'd probably do it.

Heck, the screen and bags are almost worth $1800.00

I wonder if Steve Austin is really stone cold steve austin the WWE wrestler??

1800 is a real good barn find, lowest I have seen one sort of neglected with low mileage was pushing 3K and I thought that was a good deal.

For 1800 I would take my chances.

That is 1150 miles from me  assuming he is in or near Austin. One Hell of a deal but I would have prob. 2300-2500 in it by the time I rented a trailer and went out and back.

There seem to be  a lot of folks who register for the sole purpose of placing an ad.  Usually it seems to be that they believe they'll get the best offer from a specialized audience.  Usually I'd rather they didn't but in a few cases it would appear to be a really good deal is offered.  I would certainly deal with such a one as dealing with a stranger.

The ad was posted from Austin.

Just an update, got a response on the Valkyrie.

The price was increased.   I am passing on it.

As I informed the seller, once a price is set, it can't go up.   When I saw that, I lost interest.

Actually, once a price is offered, and that offer is countered, then the price can change any direction.

I always accept the offer, subject to verification of the product (not a scam). Just like the side covers offered for $50 for the pair (A steal!), but no reply, and the ad changed to $50 ea (a fair price). But since I only need 1 cover, and still don't know which one it is (black or chrome), I passed.

So depending on what was done, the seller reneged on the deal, and I would let it pass also, unless I was close enough to drive right over.

All I'll say is, once I set a price, it is, what it is.    There have been times I wished I had priced a product or service higher but still sold it for the advertised priced.   Some times, you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.   In this case, I'm not hunting.  Wink

Funny you mention this. I would normally agree 100%. I recently decided to sell our billiard table. Not expecting much $, I posted on Craigslist. Received 3 calls immediately, one being the builder we bought from. He said he would buy it sight unseen for asking price($400). Started second guessing my price. Builder said he could pick it up next day. Then he called later the same day and wouldn't be able to make it the following day. I told him that I had 2 guys interested and did not wanna get stuck. I said if he was willing to go $100.00 more I'd hold the table. I could stop by his store and get a deposit. He didn't blink. I never had bumped an asking price but, I did there and still don't think I asked enough.
I justified doing that because it was a store and I knew they would re-felt the table and make quite a profit. I was looking to sell to a family(willing to sell for $300) for a nice Christmas present.

Agreed.   Admittedly, the OBO does allow for price flex.

Just not something I would do.   What I've always done is stay at my price and let folks know the first one to arrive with the cash wins the prize.   No deposit, no holding.

Something not uncommon in real estate as well, ie, listing below value to attract interest and start a bidding war.

I hate the games...the asking price being more than you want, then the offer is insultingly low, then you dance and meet in the middle.

I recently posted an online ad for a good quality item for $1000. New price was $1500. My ad stated $1000 firm. I got several emails for $4-500, followed by angry emails and "good luck selling it at that price". It did sell at that price in the first week. I told the one guy...if you're shopping for a vehicle and all you can afford is a Ford, you don't find guys with Mercedes for sale and offer the ford price. If you can't afford something, don't try to buy it. Go buy the cheap crap or get a better job so you can buy the good stuff.

He listed for $1800 OBO having no real idea what the bike is worth.  If I understand correctly he's selling his departed father's Valkyrie.

He was deluged with interest.  He replied to several that the first offer of $2000 will get it.  That's $200 difference, not a bidding war.  I think he's upright and it's a good bike.  It seems to be a good price but I don't want a plain black.

He's still a stranger.  I would only present money when a bike and title is seen.   Lots of members within reach of Austin.

Unless it's hydro locked, that's still a great deal.  At 2K you could spend the money to paint it and still be ahead Smiley

At one time we (o2s and da prez) were within a few miles from him. When I got an E-mail response , we were in Dallas on our way back. I had the cash , but not enough time.
Our granddaughter is stationed at Ft. hood. She is an Air Force officer. We were in Harker Heights /Killeen /Temple for almost two weeks.
I was discharged from Ft.Hood in 1969. There is nothing there that I recognized after 47 years.
I guess time and tide wait for no one.

I received a reply yesterday and the 2 K was the price I am only several hours from him. Called him this morning and got voice mail. Sent another PM asking for more pictures nothing yet from him. My son and I were going to partner on it. I wanted to see it first hand before any money was exchanged. Maybe tomorrow.
