Merry Christmas to all! Sitting here sipping my bourbon, waiting on the $(*#)@$@ kids to finally give out and fall asleep so we can do the Santa thing and get to sleep ourselves...

I sure don't miss that. Putting stuff together in the middle of the night was never fun.

Wanna guess what the 8 foot long box in the garage is? Luckily, it's a "From mommy, daddy, and all your grandparents" present, so it doesn't need to go under the tree, and with the rain and fog, I've got a few days until I've gotta put the thing together... The little craps are finally asleep, or at least faking it enough that we're getting going on all the OTHER stuff... What idiot decided to put the "Santa Stash" in an UPSTAIRS closet that we have to go PAST all the kiddos rooms to get to and from? Ugh, my knees sound like a bowl of Rice Krispies already, and we're not even done yet! Oh well... Some day I'll look back fondly on these days... Or so I'm told.

Now that's just funny... (Serk story, not important)
My dad was a good dad, but very hands off. Went from being an Air Force Officer to a over the road truck driver. He provided for us but wasn't "there" for us much, and even when he was physically there wasn't terribly involved with us kids.
He is VERY into my kids. As in comes over daily to hang out with them.
This morning while everyone was asleep, including the kids, I get a message from my 74 year old dad. He's driven over, is in his car in the driveway, wants to know if it's okay if he comes in to join us for the Christmas morning festivities...
So here we are, me and my dad, sitting in front of the chair, drinking coffee, trying to chat (He forgot his hearing aid) waiting for the kids to wake up...
Something just seems backwards about that!

Sometimes life does come full circle. Right now you are getting the best of both worlds. Merry Christmas to you and your family. My Dad was Air Force for 7 years, but he was always very hands on with us kids. I think it probably was because his Dad was an alcoholic and wasn't involved. Miss him all the time, even after 15 years. Soak it all in my friend.

Something just seems backwards about that! It's the way off life. I little early or you to recognize it but it is the way it goes. Merry Christmas to you, the missus, the first born and the little three.

Merry Christmas to everyone in this wonderful eclectic bunch of Valkyrie lovers.....I long for the late nights and early mornings of playing Santa. They went by much to quickly. At 70 (new years day) I am thankful to God to have another Christmas with my kids and grand kids. I can still ride, my best riding partner being my youngest grandson ( 12 ). What a blessing.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all in my Valkyrie family.....
