Hey all
Well I got a new pistol for Christmas and it's a beast (to me) Stainless SW 357 6 inch barrel 7 shot cylinder. It's an excellent gun but to me this thing is too much. I've got a K frame 4 inch 6 shot, this is like the next size up. The extra barrel length and shot add noticeable weight to it. I'm sure it's more accurate but feels "unwieldy" in comparison
So I'm leaning to the 4 inch as my "go to" piece
Any way stocking up on smith and Wesson I'll get some pictures up when I can
Thanks for the feedback on the coach guns

me just got a plinking S&W .22a 10 shot capacity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pks5WOqRAKYFound out thru the web that S&W quit making them for some reason in 2015? My guess is the price point I got one new for around I think 200 bucks did not justify making them for much profit?

Dan, like several other things, size is relative. This is a big ol' revolver and it is only 5 shot. The shells are 1/2" in diameter each. That's .50 cal Magnum 6.5" barrel. Next to my .357 it's a 686 4"

here is my favorite for plinking. 22/22mag convertible. Big difference in the power of 22 to 22 mag Next is my 357 of the same model. Both are the original 3 screw models. The other is my 44 automag desert eagle.

I have the Colt Trooper very similar to yours, 357, 6" nickel. I've had it almost 50 years now and it is by far my favorite one to shoot, but it's a little hard to conceal. When I lived in Cheyenne in the mid 70's I was in a quick draw club and I used it in the competitions. The "die hard's" always wanted me to let them cut it down to proper size and remove the front site, but I still won about half of my matches. Unfortunately it has some scratches and dents from those years but I did get to meet Bob Munden a couple of times, when he was around we barely got noticed.

Fond of these S&W J frame .357's for carry. 5-shot, small, both with green Crimson Trace laser grips. 3# triggers on single action. 24.8oz loaded, 1.25" wide at the cylinder. Easy to conceal & carry with nearly any clothes and season. I like IWB hybrid holsters (kydex/leather) esp. Everyday Holsters. Very comfortable. The shrouded hammer is model 649, the other model 60. Which do you prefer ?

Pick one. (.357s) Mod 360 1.87" (Jframe) (round butt) (Scandium frame, stainless cylinder and bbl) (laser gripped) PC13 3" (Kframe) (round butt) (only mod 13 ever made with a shrouded ejector) (magnaported) (DAO) Mod 19 2.5" (Kframe) (round butt) Mod 66 4" (Kframe) (square butt) Mod 686 7-shot performance center 2.5" (L frame) (round butt) (takes full moon clips over speed loaders)

Their price is about the same - around $600 now w/o a great deal. Crimson Trace green lasergrips about $400 IIRC. The lasergrips are new, released in green this year. Green is much brighter than red, usable in daylight and $80 more. I had to order those and the 649 online, didn't find them in any local stores.

.308 pistols; no butt stock (maybe a Sig arm brace), and shorter than 16" bbls, are pistols... says ATF. Armalite, (13" bbl) Assembled from parts, DPMS upper, (9.5" bbl) Sig P716 12B 12 .308 Pistol W/ PSB, (12.5" bbl) Kellyenterprises KE-51308 pistol (Forged HK Milspec 5.5" Barrel) https://www.kellyenterprises.net/images/stories/virtuemart/product/ke-51k-pistol.jpgDSA SA58 Tactical Pistol .308, (8.25" bbl) https://www.impactguns.com/data/default/images/catalog/535/dsa_SA58TACPISTOL.jpgPTR-91 PDW (.308) and the PTR-32 PDW (7.62 X 39 russian) respectively. (Both have 8.3" bbls) Personally, I like my .308s in rifles and carbines. I have a hard enough time just holding a scoped 7.5" Ruger Redhawk .44 at arms length. And the muzzle flash and noise from them is brutal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrL7sy-x0f4

my .308 has no arm brace but it would be very nice to have a forward vertical grip like a lot of AR's have but the ATF requires a destructive weapons permit or some such on a pistol..otherwise hefty fine and jail time..it's fun to show at party but practically.....maybe Trump can change that law too..I hear cans/silencers may be legal in 3 months or so w/o federal/state BS--that would make shooting a lot more pleasurable and ear healthy--I understand they get quite dirty so another cleaning ritual when having fun...it seems most all fun stuff requires clean-up

My weapon of choice is an automatic. Nobody messes with the Alien. Ride Safe, Alien Didn't they just ban those in California? Don't worry, your secret is safe with us! And while we're discussing our current carry guns, my current primary carry is a Springfield Armory XDS 9mm... I used to not like the 9mm caliber, but there have been some MAJOR advances in terminal ballistics the last few years, to the point that 9mm has become viable now, IMHO...

Serk we met once a few years ago on the Hi-way -80 frontage road in Mesquite at the Taco Cabana talking exhaust pipes--I had the Vikings and you were very pleased w/yours.....Banning what in california ?.....silencers? I picked up a magazine at the Krogers on silencers and they talked like it was a go nationwide as did the manager of the local Gander Mountain....I carry a Ruger LC 380--it fits in most any pants front pocket and the recoil is still not pleasant for plinking at the range but better than the 9mm..the barrel length is sufficient to give a decent site plane vs anything shorter..it is known as the 9mm short....on YOU TUBE some video showed the .380 wad cutter having better tumbling and penetration than a 9mm...as always your results may vary...

Howdy, I remember that meeting! Silencers are currently illegal still in CA, IL NY and a few other backwards states, and heavily regulated nationally, but with the change in leadership in DC we're hoping the Hearing Protection Act will pass and make it far simpler to own one. (I've got 5 right now, once you shoot suppressed, you'll never want to shoot without again!) But my Banned in California comment was a smart-ass comment to Alien about the rubber band gun, since he's in California... (And at this point it wouldn't surprise me if those crazy commies out on the left coast DID ban rubber band guns, but that's another rant....) The .380 isn't a bad round, but a 9mm is significantly more powerful. I've got a Kel-Tec P3-AT in .380 as one of my backup guns but for my "primary" carry gun I want to have as much "oomph" as I can get away with. I also want to practice with and be proficient with my primary carry weapon, and the XDS in 9mm is actually pretty comfortable to shoot, while my tiny 380 HURTS to shoot, I don't like practicing with it. I love my XDM in 40. Almost too big to carry on the waist so it is usually in a galco shoulder holster.
Love the whole XD line... Best parts of a 1911 and a Glock put together in one platform. My previous every day carry was a XD Sub-Compact .40 (I've got 2 of those I liked 'em so much) and my "By the bed" fun is a XD duty sized .45... Just love everything about that platform...

there in lies the catch...my .380 fits in my front pants pocket has a 4 & 1/2 inch site plane...I can hit your beverage of choice some 20-30 feet away..a long semi-hard trigger pull with a 7 round magazine..it hits the sweet spot for me....carrying the .308 in open carry is just a bit ...well...do you know of a decent holster for it?
