Didn't see the Rousey fight but according to the news and internet, she did get her butt kicked quickly.

This I am sure of, she's still bad assed and could kick most of our members butt in the ring (including me).   I would like to meet her (socially) but definitely not in the ring.   She's a cutie.   cooldude

Saw the fight, or what there was of it. She shoulda stayed home. Eventially there is always someone better.

Yeah, women's MMA is where the men were 10 years ago. You have a person like Rousey who are great in 1 aspect of the sport and dominate (see Royce Gracie). Then you have others come along later who were good strikers(Liddell, Holm). Then as the sport evolves, you get people who are more well rounded MMA fighters (Silva, GSP, Nunes) and they take over. It's good for the sport.

Also teaches humility, no matter how good you think you are, someone is always out there working a bit harder, looking to take your place.

In my youth, I never lost a fight (not many).... until I did (and man it only lasted about 8 seconds).  He wanted me to get back up and I said no way, I'll just end up right back down here.  You win.  (he had 25lbs and 5 years on me)

Learning when to keep your mouth shut can greatly lessen your fighting experiences.

Being fast was much more useful than my fighting skills.  Esp when they were bigger, older and/or more of them than me.

When I watch MMA (occasionally) I think I'm quite happy (and better) with a .357 rather than my elbows and knees

Walk softly and carry a big stick is a good plan.

When I was in  police I would much rather deal with someone my own size than a shorter opponent.  I'm 6'1" 220, someone that size or close to it was easier to deal with if it came to a confrontation.  Those fellers around 5'5" seemed to be a little slippery, and quicker.

Plus, the smaller guys have been fighting all their lives. Bigger guys often bluff their way out of confrontations, so have little to no experience.

I haven't been in a fight in so long. I can't even remember my last fight. My experience was little guys should be feared as much or more than big guys. The meanest, nastiest, scariest guys I've been around weren't big by any means. I never enjoyed fighting, I only did it if I was forced to. I've known a few little guys who seemed to relish beating up people bad.

Being a bigger guy, I had the opposite experience (Although I did manage to find ways out of fights.)

(I was the tallest kid in my school.)

Every little punk in the school tried to pick a fight with me, and it was lose-lose for me. If I fought and won, I was a bully for beating up the smaller kid, if I fought and lost I was a wuss for losing to a smaller kid.

So I'd just start chanting Enochian spells at them until they left me alone.

But yeah, I wasn't able to bluff my way out with my size, and was CONSTANTLY being challenged by every little punk who wanted to make a name for himself.

Did the spells work ? I can see your point about being the tallest kid. A no win situation for sure.

I developed a reputation as the Satan worshiping weird kid and the other kids left me alone, which is exactly what I wanted, so I guess in a round about way they worked...

She's not a stand up fighter, she needs to get into a clench and get the opponent to the ground to be effective. From the few seconds in her fight last night and the fight she lost her title she cannot defend herself too well. Granted she lost her title with a kick to the head but still she was beaten before that blow.

I don't know what training she did to get ready for this fight, but it seems she is not being trained to fight. She may be great in her Judo or whatever her martial art is but she isn't trained enough to mix it all together. Last night she looked like just another white girl getting her ass beat by a girl from the hood, but got paid $3M for it. Geeze Rhonda watch Rocky to learn how to box and Rocky II to learn how to win the title.
