I always go to the bank Before I mail off my monthly contributions. One of the young tellers there informed me-Mr. Patterson lookin like you got a 6 dollar increase on your Social Security check-or as I call it-social insecurity. 72 bucks a year!  Lips Sealed Gas has already gone up near bout 40 cent a gallon since August-micky-Ds has raised their prices-Still got somewhat live bodies stead of robots-my Butcher just informed me his head office told him ALL meats going up 7 to 10% this month alone-and I truly believe the V A may raise my copay this year. My car and M/C insurance has gone up a bit every year for the last couple of years.  Undecided  I DEFY any one or two of them worthless scum bag smbitches on either side of the aisle in Jeff City or deception central to come on down HERE to the Ozarks and live on what I live on and keep the lights on and food in the fridge and gas in the vehicle(s) bills current AND set money aside for I-17!  coolsmiley Oh-Wait-I KNOW this one-It's called Balancing a BUDGET-Even after or in spite of Revenue falling off!  uglystupid2 Even though I did vote for The Donald I do NOT spect things to git better in the near or long term.  Embarrassed More realism than pessimism! Rant done fer a bit. RIDE SAFE.

Sorry buddy. Obama needed the money for eligals and refugees. Oh!!! And run a little short on Obama care. If you want money from the government you need to have snuck across the border, don't  give a s#$t  about America, burn a few flags, destroy someone else's property, or maybe a full time student. You worked for a living and your money was confiscated and squandered by Congress. Tough s#$the.  uglystupid2  cooldude

Yah,  I think I read my mom got my dad's social security check also went up like 5-6 bucks per year the past 2 years - woopie doo!   Angry

She really has no expenses though besides gas and electric, TV which she does not watch, food,  and telephone and meals on wheels and 3x's per week people coming in checking on her for 1 hour per day doing stuff for her if needed being the biggest expense at like 250 bucks per month.  Enough to live off of I guess?

She actually between my dads small pension check and social security puts away more money than our immediate family members do in the bank per month...   Sad    We have much more bills to pay though..  Cry

Gotta do what you gotta do to not go in the hole..   Roll Eyes

Last year the increase was ZERO. This year if memory serves me it is 0.03%. Correct me if I am wrong.
This is why those in Washington should have their pay and retirement come directly from this fund. We would have zero issues with SS then.............

Pappy that sentiment is shared by many

Congress should not get a free pass or lifetime pension for serving one term, it should be just Soc Security time like the rest of us

Wonder if they have groupons for 0xygen 02S

maybe I'm misunderstanding it. The extra money was to cover his retirement for 8 months that wasn't already allotted. And extra costs of the living presidents.

Denny, you've touched a sore spot with me too.

I can't talk about what the arseholes in DC are doing since the press lies. However, i know what I see on my income.

SS didn't go up one penny for me.  Probably Medicare took care of that.  My retirement stays the same, my small check from the BOW stays the same.  My contract for this apt expires in May, I'm to expect another 30-40 bucks a month increase.   My Medicare supplement stayed the same for this year but my Part D went up again.  My dental bills have increased, the dentist fees went up and I have no dental insurance. Medical fees are up but so far, Medicare and the supplement is working.  I hate the phrase "FIXED INCCOME"!  It might be fixed but the buying power has gone down on all fronts.  What little that I have in Savings is earning .05 %.  Can't afford the risk of investing.

Luckily when I sold the house, I paid cash for a new car.  I have no debts, not even credit cards. If I can't pay cash, I don't need it.  Going on vacation and paying 100 bucks or more for motels for a week or more is out of the question.   No cable Tv, just local channels plus 8.95 for Netflix is my entertainment dollar. No theater going, very little restaurant eating,

I'm only doing about 7,000 miles yearly, on BOTH cars.  The Miata is now my attitude adjuster and it's not a 'toy' but a requirement for my attitude.  To some, with a lot more 'toys' and a big income, this seems like i'm barely living but i was raised in the Great Depression and this is fine by me.

State Farm raised my rates so I switched to USAA for this new year. Saved a bundle so far.  We'll see in 6 months.

Overall, I'm fine if i don't get sick! cooldude

I am fully aware what they get paid.
It's all here http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepresidentandcabinet/a/presretirement.htm
I am just saying they get their raises no matter what kind of job they do and no matter what the economy is and their health insurance and are exempt from the healthcare plan the rest of us are forced to take.

In the real world their pay should be tied to performance and economy just like the rest of us.

former Presidents George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush in calendar year 2016 each received $205,700

$9,000 increase in pension costs for Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Jimmy Carter.

$359,000 in new spending for “new former President Barack Obama,” including funds for his pension, beginning Jan, 20, 2017, as well as money for his staff, office and other related expenses, beginning on July 21, 2017.

So by your figures Obama receives 144K more over the past presidents and they label the articles false. What a load of left propaganda. While he did not get the whole half mill, he did get a raise to almost double the former presidents.

Also lets not forget the slide in the buying power of the dollar that contributes to the cutting of all incomes. The fact that the Feds are printing money at a break neck pace is making what money we have worth less. Inflation, is only the tip of the iceberg and most of it contributed to the poor money management of the current admin.

This explains it. If you will look at the chart half way down it shows "W" received $1.1 million. The article explains why.

Just got back from a dab of grocery shopping and "most" of the items I purchase for my consumption have indeed gone up.  Embarrassed Or if the prices themselves have not risen the quantity is less which any day of the week and twice on Sunday IS a price increase.  uglystupid2  Gas here bouts really close to $2.16 a gallon. While I Really am NOT happy to see it has affected my friends here it's one of those cursed if ya don't and cursed if ya do things. Generally-NOT always but generally set a bit aside every month for my annual Inzane trip. All year to save it but about a month and a half to rip thru it!  2funny BUT it IS what I do and intend to o to Inzane as long as I'm still breathing and coherent!  Roll Eyes We all mange to muddle thru But damnit-It Would be nice if it were a tad mite easier!  cooldude Don't git me wrong I do NOT want it handed to me-I'd just like it to be not Quite so difficult. RIDE SAFE.
