let the door hit me in the arse as I leave this forum.

I'll occasionally peek in but I'll be on the outside looking in.

I'm tired of the bickering political posts.  Sorry, friends.

I wish all the best, safe riding.

Wayne,, I know you are over on FB and right now its real friendly to you, but I can tell you from experience after having been on there since it started,, that over time you will get friend requests from people that do not agree with you politically and it can get far worse than here. At least here its somewhat private and I feel more free to speak my mind.
Just FYI

But rather that leave why not just ignore post that you deem a problem?

I got fed up and took a break a couple years ago too.  It was more me than the board.  Take these things too seriously and you do feel like escaping.  I suspect it's kinda the same for you.  When you come back, just don't read the posts that piss you off.

Anyone that reads this board knows what Wayne says is true! There are a handful of people here that will argue if someone says it's daylight out at 3:00 in the afternoon. One word out of context that someone feel is inappropriately stated, let the slams begin.

The only thing lacking here anymore is for these same people just to tell each other they are full of crap. This is not only on political post either, it's most anything. Nuff said, but this will eventially (or has) run good people off.

I have chosen to just read the title of the thread and decide whether I want to read it or
to engage in exchanging views.
Indeed, I don't open this site as often as I used to do.

One thing that's discouraging is to attempt keeping up with discussions where posts are full of
other sites that the writer intends for one to read. I suppose he is trying to lend credibility to
their views as if everything you read in the internet is based on the truth.

If one were to keep up with such, one would spend 25 hours a day reading that stuff.

Granted, there are times when posting an internet site is appropriate for the discussion.
But 90% of the postings (some of them fake news) tend to be the preferred mode of communication
among the dominant culture of our General board.

There are certain folks whose posts are obviously hoping to generate trash talk over and over,
until quickly it degenerates into insults.

There are jerks here that rub me the wrong way as well.  I know for sure who they are because I've set "ignore" on their handle. I've even had a handful email me so they can use profanity and threats that would be outlawed here - for that I say "bring it jerk, I'm armed too, with bigger guns - you will lose on that one." I sometimes read the jerk's posts but won't respond because they are officially black-balled in my book.  Yep I disagree with the 2 prominent lefties politically but they aren't blackballed because they aren't jerks/aholes, just politically opposite. I usually let others argue with them - someone will post exactly what I would and no need to say it again or first. Works for me.

BTW - if I never respond to your posts even when aimed at me and you give a rat's patootie, think back if you were a jerk to me.  You just might be on my list even long ago. I generally don't remove names from the ignore list.

I kind of enjoy reading opposing points of view.  I don't have to agree.  I don't have to respond, but I do if I feel the urge.  It would be boring if everyone thought the same way.

I also enjoy reading some of the political posts, but find myself replying less and less nowadays.  My side won, I have less to gripe about.

I have also very much enjoyed reading your stories and posts, Wayne.

There are a few benign sounding posts going by the header Until I see WHO the poster is. I have No one on ignore BUT there are posters I do now ignore. If "they" respond to a thread I'm reading and I see "who" they are I just skip over whatever trivia they spew. Less hassle dat away doncha know!  2funny BUT all dat being said them and me ain't gonna change nary a bit.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I think I'm going to call Wayne the goodbye man.

He has done this on more than one occasion and if you review his posts of the past you will see it to be true. I think I remember 4 times at least and the last one besides this was when he gave up motorcycle riding and got his Miata. I have seen him go through long rides, tour the country on his bike and seen as time and age has taken away his ability to ride. I read while he switched bikes out of his beloved Valkyrie and on to a smaller bike and then to the Miata. I admire Wayne is many ways, one especially is I hope I can always ride. He had been a model for me and inspiration. Like a few others here.

I dont say any of this to be mean spirited because I like Wayne's posts, I do it to illustrate what a family is about and what an motorcycle internet family is about. In a family each brings his own personality and each his own views. I enjoy to some extent the back and forth, I do enjoy the information and of course the motorcycle posts. I love to see newbies learn about the Valkyrie or the many and different experiences we all have. Joe's riding posts are the great, and One day, " Joe Ill be there if you would have me."  cooldude

I have listened to all who have had accidents and how they have managed lives after that or if they continue to ride. OH so much more, Willow what a unique inspiration or a terror on the key board depending which side of the issue your on today. Thank you Willow for all you do and just who you are.

I like all the political posts actually, with our resident liberals, also part of the family expressing some exasperating views sometimes. I admire their dogged determination in being here when they could have just as easily gone to another site that has similar views.

Let me clue all in, JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE HAS A DIFFERENT VIEW ON A SUBJECT HERE DOES NOT MEAN IF THAT PERSON MET YOU IN REAL LIFE YOU COULD NOT BE BEST FRIENDS. Heck me and my wife go through this everyday.  Wink Grin

We are a family, good bad, political posts, attitudes life experiences and riding and mechanical experiences.

So when I hear a post like this its like a wife on a bad day. Hell there is no fury like a woman on a bad day, you would think that the world has come to an end and lets burn and destroy everything in her path. But the next morning some how there is a reset and she is back to loving her family and her husband all of sudden doesn't seem so bad again.

The only thing I cant seem to figure out is why people just cannot, NOT click,  on the posts that are political or just, not respond or just read it and shake their heads and go on to another post.

The other thing I dont understand if you dont like all the banter why dont you post a post you would like to see. I have seen very few posts deleted and who knows who feels the same and may want to hear your point of view or experiences. We all go through life and take for granted the lives we live and maybe your reflections are exactly what someone would need to hear. You know what else I found very few posting a simple pic of some daily ride or experience, there is no easier way to express yourself than a pic of a moment taken on life's adventures.

I hope Wayne and everyone would stay around and contribute instead of fading away or dropping out just because someone didn't post a post you liked. What about you posting a post you would like and seeing if anyone else agrees? What a concept, posting what you would like. How can you complain about it not being a motorcycle board when you dont post?

I have tried to get away from this board, Ive been insulted, ridiculed, argued with, praised, complimented just like life. So I say Wayne whatever floats your boat. To others I would say post what you like, heck Cleatus has made some nightmares for me but it was great. I love the diversity, the experiences, jobs, lives, opinions and all that goes with it wrapped up in riding motorcycles which is the commonality that brought us all together to post on this great piece of life's written canvas.

But really we could write a movie out of the lives on this board. Heck note to admin, Willow maybe, take the past posts expand and write a script and sell it so the site could be well financed.

While I respect Wayne's decision, I must say that I don't understand the whole "I don't like these posts, therefore must leave" mentality.  It reminds me of the whole safe space thing some of our yoots engage in.  The VRCC forum has lost a lot of truly interesting characters in the time that I have been a member, I sincerely hope none left because of me.

I read or don't read posts based on the subject and poster.  If I find one isn't for me, I close it and move on.

The MI VRCC was devastated a few years back by discord and unrest between some long time members.  What was once a thriving message board on it's own, is now rarely posted on.  Many members took sides and left or didn't take sides and decided it just wasn't worth the hassle.  There are a few of us left, but it is nothing like the good old days.

I would love to see many of the old National and MI members return and post again, but not if it means restricting the posts on either board.  I prefer the don't like it, don't open it approach.  Take responsibility and police yourself.

I spend more time on the tech board where it's motorcycles.  Ya, it's about problems but at least 99% of it is motorcycles. I see postings there by people very seldom seen on the general page. Maybe there is a reason?
