I am already thinking heavily about going that route.  That is those shields available through Twisted Throttle...the MRA types.  I have one now, and it looks cool..works good up to about 80...then forget about it.  I want to be able to go as fast as the bike can go without any major turbulence.  I probably will try one those deflected models.  Not only does it seem like a good idea (negative air pressure issues make great sense..)but they look great.  I just cannot stand the look of some gaudy ass big wind shield...for me looks are *almost* as important as functionality...

I'm with you.  If there is ever a workable small windshield that fits my taste then I'm in.

There is another windshield add on, check out www.laminarlip.com . They have top and side universal add ons. They also specialize in OEM fitted tops. They use 3M Lock Strips for mounting, no holes to drill and they claim money back guaranty.

 I like Moofner's solution, too. The small footprint and added deflector seems like it would be a cool feel, and it looks good.  I would like to know what the air feels like on his chest, and what it feels like to have his visor up at 70-80 mph.  (If only we could test all these permutations without it breaking the bank!)

So the chest area is fine, I have a larger than normal mangina pectoral area (last measured 56" chest). I don't notice any resistance unless the wind is going crazy or I'm speeding faster than common sense should allow. My visor gets a bit of bustle and hustle when it is up, but I routinely ride around with it cracked at 70 MPH if the weather is screaming hot. I use an HJC modular IS-MAX. I have more problems at 70 MPH with the visor open as it catches the air that comes off the screen than I do with getting blasted in the eye area.

The trick I found was angling the MRA windscreen for BOTH looks and function. I didn't want it to stand straight up but I also wanted it to mold the air for my comfort. The second deflector was a bonus after I figured it out. My best friend rode my 1800 when I vacationed in Orlando a few months ago, and he commented that the screen worked great. I'm 5'10, 275 lbs, and a large chest. He is 6'0, 210 lbs, and a normal sized chest. There is wiggle room on effectiveness depending on the rider.

Do you guys know that Gustafsson Plastics makes all these heights and widths of windshields for our bikes? I didn't know they had so many so it seems to me that they could design something you would like or at least they have a height to start with.

I belive I have read that their  mounting hardware leaves the shield  a little shaky , not nearly  as secure as Honda's

Yes sir I did, I bought it from the famed 1500 engine master Attic Rat (Bob) Attic Rat as he is known on the VRCC board, This is from his personal collection and has had his magic touch throughout the entire bike.  It is a 2003 with 8k on the clock and is turn key ready serviced and looks like an out of the crate new bike.  It is being shipped to me from Oklahoma.  It does not have the shaved heads and notched pistons so stock with a de-smog.  I always wanted a cream puff. So three it is.

Gustafsson Plastics windshield and a Corbin Streetfighter seat.  Keeps the bike a bit sporty but super comfy, just get the shield height that is best for your torso height.

I do, but that particular Gustafsson is not my personal taste in looks for a small windshield.  So for now I have the gaudy a$$ big windshield.  Made by Gustafsson, BTW.

Oh I hear ya...If you read through most of my posts (I know long winded..lol ) I state many times how much I love everything about this bike, but really just a couple things that have to be fixed.  Unfortunately, their crucial and involve comfort/ridability...  The seat is an issue, but not as important as being able to SEE...  This bike has the weirdest aero streams ever..   I mean what is the point of having a really powerful, fast bike if you cannot go fast?  I have to get the right windshield that does the trick, but doesn't look dorky....  This can get expensive as once you take it out of the package to mount...you cannot return it. Lastly, I have to figure out why *sometimes* my hands get numb while riding, and sometimes not....  I hope to have these worked out by next Summer.

I get the same numbness in my hands.  I have had the issue for several years with my old valk and the new one, even with the new handlebars....it's called getting old.

What kind of look would you like?  If you've seen my photos you'll note that the screen is pretty chic and is just about the narrowest you want for our bike's bar width, it actually works very well and everyone seems to like the looks IRL when they see it.

Or nerve damage. I've got nerve damage in my arms from my military service. Any previous trauma to the ulner nerve (funny bone) will quickly manifest on nearly any motorcycle with tingling and numbness.

I'm also with Adrian on the lust/love/hate thing when it comes to seating and a windscreen. Lust turned into love when I got my windscreen right for me. Now I'm moving to hate because that seat is long tour butt pain. I plan on seeing a Corbin marriage counselor soon and getting the love back.

What kind of look would you like?  If you've seen my photos you'll note that the screen is pretty chic and is just about the narrowest you want for our bike's bar width, it actually works very well and everyone seems to like the looks IRL when they see it.

I feel it is the bike and to be specific a few areas that needs a windshield that molds better to it.  

When I fart around with the different 3 windshields i have tried, it always seemed to float to high above the headlight thumb nail and then it is too far forward, then it does not mold to the bike much.  Therefore I feel it looks goofy.  I'm sure the sail panels over the radiators are a huge factor in what makes our bikes awesome in getting heat off the rider and at the same time hinders us from that sweet spot.  We all know everyone here has different taste and sometimes we totally agree.   To answer the question,  I'm sure someone here will hit it perfect one day and post a picture. For me I just bought my new windshield and it works well it looks good (in the it's too big catagory) so for now just spending $285 it will be on for a good long time.  I will be mounting it today and take one more pic and share.  Still I am giving this bike a old school cruiser look and it maybe should have a sleeker look.  I will continue to watch what everyone else does and I enjoy that part of this as everyone has great ideas.  I have 1500 projects I need to focus on for now with my new to me 1500 being shipped to me soon and I want the Moofner research institute so cal lights and yes blinking on the 1800 before our Colorado trip in June.

Hope your new shield is a success for you!

No issue with the Gustafsson shields being too far away or too high off the headlight - I actually wrote to Gustafsson to tell them that the fitment is too precise and too close!  Unless you get the install just right, which can take quite a bit of adjustment, the shield can actually hit the headlamp assembly, fitment is that close.  I can't even fit the tip of my pinkie between my shield and the headlight, and that's the full assembly, there are small 'nubs' of the shield which dip down to meet the side areas of the top of the headllight pod (where the grilles are).
