Man, that's a long poem. I like the thought.

Yes, but worth the time.
"To know the universe itself as a road, as many roads, as roads for traveling souls..."
Hook,
I do indeed consider it a compliment!!! In fact, I consider it one of the nicest I've ever received... I too have seen those commercials, and I admit I had no difficulty in identifying with the sentiment of the lines spoken... I hadn't actually read the poem itself, however... that is, until you included the link in your post! WOW!!! I've bookmarked that site for future reference...
Few things have struck me like that Whitman piece, fewer still with which I so strongly identify... Thank you so much for sharing this with us... And, thank you more than I can say for the huge compliment!!!
DDT
P.S. Takes one to know one...
Bruce, I'm very happy this pleased you. You give so much of yourself to us here at the VRCC, I hope this is payback, in some small amount.
I too have never read the poem, heck, I can't remember reading any poem that didn't start with "There once was a man from Nantucket"

But as I read it, long as it was, the more I associated with someone like yourself that actually DOES the road travel.
Someday, I hope to be able to take the same type of trip you seem to be so good at. Just get on her and go and end up, where we end up.
