Alpha Dog

A real shame no doubt, however it did live a long, long, long life.

It's kind of funny!  With all this technology, and supposedly people being smarter these days, that they would have kind of anticipated this misfortune.  And made some effort or try to preserve one of the Lifetime Treasures. Now it will probably end up maybe a table, a shed or just firewood, what a shame.

there was not much man could do to save this tree.  It had lost a lot of its root system that held it in place.  Lots of moisture this year plus some pretty good winds.  Have seen many pictures of 200-300 year old trees laying down this year.  Just mother nature working her magic.

As far as what will happen to this tree.   I would say it will stay where it fell, unless a part of it needs to be remove to allow for trails or roads to be cleared.  This tree was in a National Park, I believe.  What falls stays there, not tables or boards will be made.

I bet some of those lumbering companies are licking their chops! A while back, this guy found these unrotten sunken logs, under the water in Lake Superior. They were there I want to say 100yrs, but not sure.  There was some legal battles but he won. I seen it on TV, the board he cut they were gorgeous looking patterns in the planks. Hope its not the faith of that tree.

River recovered old-growth yellow pine is awesome. Sequoia wood sucks, no good for
burning, awful lumber. They used to make toothpicks and grape stakes out of it.

NO!  The opportunity still exists!!

BikerGirl tends to be a bit tenderhearted about such things, but this tree is VERY much alive and appears quite healthy.  Tight squeeze for the Valk and the Stratoliner.

Different tree. See Britman's post down stream a bit about "one crossed off my to see list".

A few of us have attached pix of the drive-thru tree in Leggett - near junction of Hwy 01 & 101.

It's not about the tree. It's about the ride, and the people, and the memories.  :)

Meathead is right on about that.  Don't ask me why such a thing has an appeal, but you didn't see anyone posing under that tree that didn't have a smile on their face. :)

the appeal is, because when we were all little boys and we saw the picture of a car going through a tree, we all started dreaming. everything looks gigantic when we are young and little.  :cooldude:
