Riding with loud pipes is like eating chips in church everyone looks at you in disgust ...But secretly they want some too.

Actually I would say no and no.
When it comes to loud anything, pipes, music, kids, spouses, etc.
I do not like them, I do not envy them.

I just have a low tolerance for noise, been this way all my life.
Sorry that is just the way it is.

Best wishes for a happy New Year.

If only someone made an exhaust that could be quickly and easily modified from mild to wild like you describe!  2funny

I have TBR six into six on my Standard.  It has 190,000 miles on it.  I ride it more than around town.

I had whisper pipes on my first Interstate when an old woman turned left across my front.  My current Interstate has cut piggies on an OEM exhaust.  I need to do something with that.

I don't particularly like obnoxiously loud pipes but then I'm guessing my definition of obnoxious differs from some.   Wink

OK, I'm trying to understand.   An elderly lady turned left across your front so, she was coming from the opposing direction and turned left in front of you?    You expect the opposing traffic to hear your pipes prior to passing you?   Maybe I simply don't understand................

Wink  Yes, you don't.  I didn't say what I expect.  I only mentioned that I was riding the bike with whisper pipes.  I will tell you that in city traffic the Standard is more likely to be noticed by oncoming traffic.

Actually, no I don't expect them to hear or see me.   In fact, I expect them to not see or hear me.
So far, that's worked for me.   Knock on wood......................

Are "whisper pipes" stock unmolested pipes ? Or is there a brand I haven't heard of ?

I would call the stock such but the pipes on that bike were TBR six into two very well baffled (and producing a few extra horses).
